Teachers are foundational to student success. We support teachers by empowering them with the resources they need to be effective in the classroom.
Everyday, teachers and administrators go beyond the curriculum, looking for ways to enhance the learning environment for their students. By conducting creative, exciting projects and programs in and out of the classroom, it helps keep students motivated and engaged in lessons.
With your support, we invest in teachers’ and principals’ innovative ideas to create educational experiences that make an impact.

We want to make learning more equitable for our students who have 'invisible disabilities' and neurological differences, such as dyslexia, ADHD, and autism, by having resources specific to helping them learn. Resources we are looking to add are more audiobooks, large print books, flexible furniture, headsets with microphones, and books that showcase the variety of disabilities and neurodiverse people/characters. My goal with this grant is to expand the instruments that our school band offers, specifically to provide ESE students with instruments that suit their individual needs for inclusion in the band program. The instruments fall into Florida standard MU.68.S.1, The arts are inherently experiential and actively engage learners in the processes of creating, interpreting, and responding to art.
These instruments are needed equipment to play concert music and offer softer sounds for our ESE students. Without the instruments, we can not play concert music sheet the way the composer intended for the music to be played. Without the instruments, we can not offer ESE students with certain disabilities that can’t hold a band instrument the enrichment in class to strike an auxiliary instrument and be fully integrated into the band program.

In 2017, Benito received The Middle and High School music Enrollment Award by Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA). We continue to enroll 50% of the student population into the music electives offered at the school.
Due to the large number of students enrolled in our programs, we are in need of music stands. It is our goal to allow each student to use their own stand during class. Stands wear out, brake, bend and oftentimes are unrepairable.
It is essential for students to have stands to use the correct posture while performing. This allows the student to use correct form, technique and prevent any bodily injuries in the future with wrists, neck and back. It falls under the Florida sunshine standard MU.68.S.3, Through purposeful practice, artists learn to manage, master, and refine simple, then complex, skills and techniques.

Young people like my middle school students are the voices of the next generation. The Florida Sunshine state standard ELA.8.R.1.4 addresses the poetic literary art form by asking the students to Analyze structure, sound, imagery, and figurative language in poetry. Poetry has been hidden in plain sight for a long time. It helps express images and emotions in different formats.
The goal of this grant is to provide an engaging, high interest display of books containing poems my students gravitate to check out and additional books to replenish the display. The display will be used during April’s poetry month, during the lesson plan for the sunshine standard and selected books will be used during other months such as black history month, Hispanic heritage month and women’s history month. I would like new badminton rackets and Birdies for PE. This equipment does not last in a PE class. The frames and birdies are fragile and barely last with heavy use and large numbers. We use them with 700 students for about 8 weeks. I like to have enough for each child to be able to practice by themselves until they are ready for partner work and game work. After the heavy use, some have to be thrown away. Buying good quality ones help them last much longer. If you use a different type of ball it does not give the students the same challenge as the birdie. The birdie travels slow and then drops like a regular ball. Playing badminton authentically really is fun and challenging.

There's no doubt: teacher turnover affects student achievement. As Burnett Middle School's Literacy Coach, my goal is to attract and keep excellent Literacy educators at Burnett. And I have just the trick! I'm requesting a donation of $440 to use for teacher incentives, note cards, small gifts, raffles, and snacks to nosh on during bi-monthly PLC's, and weekly collaborative lesson planning sessions, etc.
Let's give the Literacy teachers at Burnett something to be excited about and a reason to smile! Burnett's Literacy department does receive a small sum of funds to be used solely for student incentives.
Here's the problem: during the 2022-23 school year, Burnett Middle School's Literacy department vacancies were at an all-time high and created a revolving door of more than 14 substitute teachers (just in the Literacy department!) And students were negatively affected.
The article 'How to Increase Teacher Retention' explained that while teacher attrition is a nationwide concern, 'good teachers who stay deliver the best outcomes for students, fellow teachers, school leaders and the wider community.'

Research indicates that this focus on positive behaviors significantly improves student's academic and social success. We are requesting financial assistance to purchase the items to be sold at our 'Dragon' Store and provide materials for monthly events.

The goal of this project is to bridge the gap between conceptual science standards and real-world applications using STEAM-based manipulatives. Classroom research has proven that manipulatives help students learn by allowing them to move from concrete experiences to abstract reasoning. Since science is an active and often abstract discipline, manipulatives help facilitate the learning process by allowing the students to visualize scientific concepts that are invisible to the naked eye or too far out of reach to initially perceive. To view a diagram or video of wind power is one thing, but to have students physically engage with manipulatives that allow them to generate their own wind energy helps take their learning to a whole different level. The activities and resources provided by this grant will help to establish a STEAM based activity and instructional resource center where students can quickly and efficiently engage in critical hands-on experiences.

Dunbar is a magnet school, and one of our school's special programs is that we use a house system as a school-wide behavior program. All students at our school are in one of 4 houses, and each student can earn up to 7 points each day for their house. (They earn points for being on time for school, getting work done, participating, citizenship, etc.) For years, we have simply rewarded one house each month for winning the most points by throwing them a party on campus.
We would like to try something special this year. We have contacted Meachum Urban Farm and coordinated an opportunity to send 50 of our top point-earning students to the farm for a field trip. This is a perfect opportunity because one of the four houses' theme is 'botany', so at the farm they will be able to see an actual working farm and even have a picnic lunch. This would be something kids would work towards from now until May, and be a fun day of learning that will complement our magnet theme as well as learning about plants and food production.

These incentives are to motivate, encourage, and sway students to meet their academic goals in each of their content areas. All students will earn recognition and attend celebrations if they make growth or strive to reach their designated goals. However, recognition will be tiered based on each student's individual level of achievement. For example, if a student increases by 10% in their academic they will be recognized for that growth, and if a student increases by 70% they will be recognized with a higher level of rewards.

I use our outdoor garden as a sensory outlet where my students can see, smell, touch or simply hear our lessons in a calm outdoor environment. Some of my students are on the spectrum and the school noises can lead to anxiety and stress so bringing a lesson outdoors can help them refocus on the lesson and stay present. A well designed outside area can serve as a bridge between mind, body and spirit.
I also include the garden to encourage attendance. My students arrive early to school to water the plants, pull weeds, look at the wildlife and enjoy a calm moment before school starts. It is not just a club, it is a community.

As a media specialist, one of my primary goals is ensuring students have access to books. With the outbreak of COVID-19 in early 2020 and the subsequent closure of schools, my students lost access to so many important resources including our media center and their classroom libraries. When schools returned to in-person learning, there were still many unknowns about the virus and library access continued to be limited because it was not clear if COVID-19 could be spread through contact with books.
In April and May of 2020, I created book packages for students using books that had been purchased for giveaways the previous year. As I handed them out during the summer, I started thinking of ways I could continue to give students books that they could keep and use to build their own home libraries. Research led me to First Book, a nonprofit dedicated to removing barriers to equitable education. Their online marketplace has a Book Bank where educators with limited budgets can buy brand-new books in bulk for just the cost of shipping and handling.

This year I would like to teach my students the importance of giving to others. Nothing makes a person's day more than receiving a small gift that they did and expect. Through the kindness counts initiative my students will have a chance to do this with me. I plan to decorate a small rolling cart and each week pick a team to receive a small gift. In the beginning, the plan is just to have snacks to share. I think this is a great way to build morale in the school.

Miles Elementary's goal is for all our students to feel safe and empowered to learn each day. Last year Miles Elementary went from a D school grade to a C school grade. Miles has goals for our students to
achieve academic and behavioral success. For the 23/24 school year, Miles’s goal is to become a B school grade and have all of our students learn on grade level.
Our Boys 2 Men program aims to empower our boys to achieve academic and behavioral success. We would like our program to impact our boys in that referral, detention, and suspensions go down while the boy’s grades and academic achievements improve.

The goal of this project is to support our PBIS school store and events. PBIS is an acronym for Positive Behavior Intervention Support. Miles is a transformation school that uses PBIS to help motivate the students to learn. Many of our students struggle with motivation to work on their academics. Negative behaviors can arise from students as they struggle with academics. PBIS helps to reinforce positive behaviors by using a token economy. We use Miles Mustang money to support positive behaviors and academic achievements. Teachers and staff are able to give students Miles Mustang money when the students are on task and/or showing positive behavior. Our teachers use the Mustang Money to incentivize students to read. The students can receive a set amount of mustang money for each book or chapter they complete. Students can use the Mustang Money at the school store or school wide events. Students are able to come to the school store twice a month to purchase items with their Mustang Money. Students are also able to use the money for school wide events that are held monthly. Students are able to purchase the event tickets at the store for a set amount.

Any play’s goal is to live in the moment and absorb the magic of the arts. Through a performance of Pirates of Penzance, Muller Elementary will aptly showcase theVisual/Performing/Communication Arts theme of its magnet program.
Of course plays and musicals also help develop language and communication skills by teaching children to express themselves both verbally, through facial expressions and body language...which are the keys in becoming a better communicator!
Other specific goals include using memory techniques to memorize lines. Techniques that will be remembered and used even through college to memorize anything from the 50 states all the way to Pi to the 100th digit...limitless possibilities and occasions for having to memorize information!

Project Goal
The goal of The NETS Project is to revive our school’s Physical Education Program by reintroducing volleyball/badminton and soccer units! As a Title 1 school, we simply do not have the extra funding to revamp all the needed equipment to support these units.
We attempted the inexpensive volleyball standards that we could purchase with a $250 mini-grant from our PTSA, but they didn’t hold up well. We were forced to stop using them all together because the lightweight volleyball standards easily tip over which resulted in injured students. We have tried to improvise soccer goals using cones on the field, which brought a safety concern while collecting soccer balls that were kicked outside of the school gates.
To enhance the experience and increase the minutes of actual play, purchasing quality volleyball standards and nets, along with soccer goals would allow us to take our student’s Physical Education to the next level.

South County Career Center
Overview: The South County Career Center/Acceleration Academy is uniquely designed to provide students with a meaningful alternative to traditional high school. Our student population is comparatively small, averaging 150-200 students. Many have had difficulties being successful because of attendance issues, frequent changes of residence and mental or physical health problems. Some have had frequent disciplinary problems and poor academic performance in a traditional setting as a result. South County Career Center provides students with a unique opportunity to get caught up with credits through credit recovery classes and online classes in Edgenuity. Students also experience face to face classes with teachers who get to know them personally in a small setting. There is very little disciplinary action needed on campus and the school utilizes the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) model to promote success.
Project Goal: To expand the current PBIS program at South County Career Center by creating a Wellness and Recreation room on campus. This multipurpose area will contain a variety of games and activities which will appeal to a wide cross section of our student body. The room will be utilized as a reward for students who attend school regularly, attain personal weekly goals, demonstrate prosocial behaviors, and consistently show desired academic progress.

This project aims to leverage students' innate curiosity about weather phenomena to foster a dynamic and inquiry-based approach to science education. By actively engaging with weather-related experiments and utilizing a dedicated weather station, students will develop a deep understanding of meteorological concepts while nurturing a lasting enthusiasm for scientific exploration. Recognizing the substantial interest in weather among students in Florida, this initiative seeks to provide an immersive learning experience that integrates hands-on monitoring activities and comprehensive laboratory investigations throughout the academic year. By fostering a profound connection to the intricacies of weather patterns and systems, we aspire to cultivate a generation of passionate and informed young scientists, poised to make significant contributions to the scientific community and society at large.

Ought To Be a Law is a student lead service-learning program sponsored by Hillsborough County Public Schools. The Ought To Be a Law program provides students the opportunity to work with the Florida State Legislature in drafting, lobbying, and presenting a real legislative issue in the States 60-day session annually.
The goal of the program is to provide students with a real-world learning environment to take an idea they have crafted as a bill proposal and learn countless real world civics lessons as they work their bill idea through the legislative process.
The bill is about food allergies. The students are asking for certain training on cross contamination and awareness be required for food preparation management. It is a paired down version of what they presented last year.
PROJECT: - Food Allergen disclosures and food safety
This bill is designed to help ensure that food managers are properly trained in food allergen and cross contamination safety. It would provide for a poster on food allergens to be displayed in all food preparation areas where food is prepared for public consumption. The students also reached on to the Red Shoes Non-Profit organization to learn more about the impact of allergens on people with life threatening allergies. They have also taken their work to Washington DC to speak with national non-profit organizations and members of Congress. This bill is the work of students at Sickles High School in Tampa, Florida.

Low attendance rates often leads to increased likelihood of living in poverty, suffering poor health, and becoming involved in the criminal justice system.

My pottery class has increased from two classes to three due to the clay artwork from the past two years has drawn interest in pottery. As an art teacher, I would like to continue that momentum and expand our program. The students are making the art for fun, not just for graduation requirements. I find it important that my students get the opportunity to experiment with all visual arts as it relates to the Sunshine State standard, VA.912.S.3.12 -
Develop competence and dexterity, through practice, with the use of processes, tools, and techniques for various media. We make the class fun as the students work on various clay forms. The goal of this grant is to provide my students with additional clay so they can create bigger creations and have the opportunities to make mistakes and learn from them. Ceramic without glaze is an unfinished masterpiece and through this grant, we will gain enough glaze to make colorful creations, canvas covered boards to work on and easy-to-clean aprons to leave the mess at school.
This grant helps me teach the standard by having the proper tools, materials and techniques for clay.

Printmaking art is an amazingly fun and relaxing way to create photographs like it was in the year 1550. My students can explore their creativity by making a print using this ancient art form and add to their technique arsenal. Not only is it culturally important for my students to learn about printmaking but it can create vivid art and repeatable prints. The students learn through standard VA.912.S.3.12 - Develop competence and dexterity, through practice, in the use of processes, tools, and techniques for various media. This grant provides the material to experiment with printmaking and show diversity in the portfolio.

The goal of this grant is for my students to see the conductor (drum major) clearly to keep up with the tempo [MU.912.S.3.5 - Develop and demonstrate proper vocal or instrumental technique.]. Conducting a marching band means leading the band while marching, keeping track of time, and directing when and what to play through verbal communication or hand gestures. My drum major climbs up on a podium hundreds of times to conduct the marching band. It is important to have the right podium for safety, assembly and size.
We have one fully working podium currently, while having two drum majors, and two that are broken or missing pieces. Our working podium is only four feet high, making it difficult for our students to see our drum major from the other side of the field. The other is a larger podium which is a 6 foot command center podium, but it does not fold up due to being rusted in the rain over the years since there is no storage space for it, therefore we constantly need to ask to borrow a podium from other schools whenever visiting for football games or traveling away for competitions. Our last podium has missing screws and handrails, and we've not been able to utilize it efficiently this year.
With the 72'' podium, we'd be able to efficiently store it, travel with it, and have the security of the handrails.

In an era where the health of our oceans is facing unprecedented challenges, fostering a deeper connection with marine science among our students has never been more vital. We want to take our students on a trip to the beach for effective specimen collection to bring back to our classroom for analysis and observation. To that effect, we recreate the aquatic environment in the classroom with ocean sea salt, filter and LED strip for optimal observational condition.
We aspire to ignite a passion for marine science while nurturing a generation of environmentally-conscious individuals. We empower our students to engage directly with coastal ecosystems, fostering a profound appreciation for the marine world and a commitment to its preservation.
