My goal is to help my students develop their writing skills, phonics and comprehension skills so they can be successful in third grade. Without these foundational skills, students will continue to struggle.
Our school is a transformational Title 1 school. Over 97% of students are on free lunch and we are also have a high amount of ELL students. This grant will allow me to purchase much needed supplies for my students. I teach 2 groups of ELA blocks so I need twice the amount of supplies. We will have daily phonics, writers workshop, reading and small group rotations. This grant will allow students the resources and supplies to keep them engaged and organized during our ELA block.
100% of my students will make a years growth in reading and writing. I want to send my students ready for third grade. My students will have the strong foundational skills to be successful in third grade. They will know how to read and then focus on comprehension strategies in third grade. By the end of second grade my students will be able to write a piece with an introduction, details, and conclusion.
Theses resources will be used for 2 ELA classes. The clear folders will help students keep their phonics and word study cards organized. Students will develop strong writing and language skills through the daily journal actvivities.
