Students will connect learning through a STEAM related field trip available in the Tampa Bay area and/or nearby counties.
Field trips make concepts more visual and learning more memorable. Additionally, students can engage with content in many ways while exploring the new environment and make connections while they problem solve, use their critical thinking and collaborative skills. I have used student feedback to develop a plan for their proposal. Students requested to attend the Universal Studios amusement park in Orlando, FL. This year, students have engaged in making roller coasters in science class and competing with other engineers at the Science Olympics. Students can use the science and technology principles they are learning in school to better understand how to design and build their favorite ride and attraction at Universal.
The anticipated outcomes include:
100% of students will make social emotional learning gains as evidenced in improved intrinsic motivation from developing trust, empathy, and receiving recognition from peers
95% of students will improve their knowledge of the benefits of healthy living, self-care, and having a growth mindset due to persevering through challenges set before them as they work hard at their strengths and make contributions.
98% of students will understand ways to work within a group and develop interpersonal values and skills they need within their communities.
98% of students will foster creativity, promotes curiosity, and deeper engagement with their design challenges as it relates to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
