My goal is to increase each student's literacy skills and reading engagement by adding flexible seating, high interest books, and current non-fiction texts to our classroom.
Students will benefit from this project by having access to high interests texts to read during our ELA block all year long. They will also have access to a variety of flexible seats that will support their attention and focus during class. The students will be able to choose what learning space works best for them as well as choose what reading materials interest them. These materials will allow students to practice and apply the reading skills and strategies they are learning during independent and small group instruction. These materials will benefit my future students as well as I will be able to to continue to use them for years to come.
Students will be highly engaged during the ELA block and will increase their literacy skills.
Flexible seating (wobble seats, wobble cushions, and floor seats) and books for our classroom library will be purchased using best available deals from places such as Amazon, Lakeshore Learning, or Barnes and Nobles. I will purchase the Storyworks and Scholastic Magazines Subscriptions from Scholastic.
