Classroom Grants: Find It & Fund It, Collier

Champions for Learning Header

Champions For Learning’s Classroom Grants program aims to provide teachers with funding for supplies, school-wide projects, classroom items, and enrichment activities not included in the school’s budget. According to the National Education Association, more than 90% of teachers spend an average of $500 of their own money each year to purchase school supplies and other items their students need to succeed in the classroom.

Individuals, organizations, and businesses have an exciting opportunity to invest in the great ideas of our local educators, who are creating amazing learning experiences in their classrooms that will impact students for years to come. To learn more about which projects need your support, simply click on a grant request below for additional details and to fund that opportunity!

The goal of the “Eyes on Boards” project is to explore the power of vision—both literal and symbolic—through collaborative art. Whether through personal vision boards or interactive installations, this project invites students to express their perspectives, spark curiosity, and transform everyday spaces into thought-provoking visual experiences. It’s a celebration of observation, imagination, and the many ways we connect through what we see—and what we choose to show.

Drawing Out the BEST in Our Kids!

Marco Island Academy

To create an authentic and professional environment for students to learn in is one of the biggest goals a teacher can have. From the decor, to the content, we want to create an environment students will both thrive and build real world experience in. By creating an authentic studio space, my students will see art beyond a hobby. Rather, they will experience the authenticity of a studio, becoming masters of their art instead.
By purchasing easels, drawing boards and drawing pads for my students, they will work in an authentic art studio. This will allow them to hone in on their skills and bloom as budding artists, moving beyond casual artists to serious craftsmen.

The Art of Being Me: A K-5 exhibition celebrating identity, creativity, and self-expression through mixed media.

Golden Gate Elementary

The Art of Being Me will directly engage over 500 K–5 students in a high-quality, standards-based art experience that fosters both creative and personal growth. By combining painting, drawing, collage, and pastel work, students will gain hands-on experience with a wide range of media, building both technical skills and confidence in their ability to express themselves.
This project goes beyond art-making. It creates a platform for every child to have their voice seen and celebrated. The culminating schoolwide exhibition transforms our hallways into a gallery, where students, families, and community members can experience the rich diversity of our school’s creativity.
This project ensures that all students have the opportunity to create with high-quality art materials, giving them the tools to fully explore and express their ideas. Providing professional-grade paper, markers, pastels, and paints ensures that each child’s artistic vision is supported by materials that respond well to their ideas. This investment in quality supplies not only elevates the final artwork but also shows students that their creative work is worth the best resources.
The project promotes inclusion, collaboration, and pride. Younger students are inspired by older peers’ work, and older students feel empowered as role models. Every participant, regardless of skill level, is able to contribute meaningfully, creating a lasting impact on school culture and student self-esteem.
Every student in grades K–5 will create a layered mixed media artwork on 9x12 watercolor paper, combining drawing, painting, collage, and pastel work.
The completed artworks will be displayed together in a schoolwide gallery exhibition titled “The Art of Being Me”, celebrating each child’s unique style and voice.
Learning Goals
Students will:
1. Express their individuality through symbolic imagery, colors, and textures.
2. Experiment with multiple media including watercolor, oil pastel, chalk pastel, colored pencils, and markers.
3. Apply the elements of art (line, shape, color, value, texture, and space) to create balanced, expressive compositions.
4. Use craftsmanship in painting, drawing, cutting, and gluing.
5. Reflect on their creative process and share their work in a public exhibition.

Imagine. Create. Innovate. – iPads in the Art Room

Gulfview Middle

a) What is the overall purpose of this project and what need(s) does it address?

The purpose of this project is to bring iPads into the art room so that students can fully express their creativity, explore digital art, and share their work with pride. Right now, we don’t have the tools students need to create digital projects or to easily photograph and upload their artwork. With iPads, students will be able to build personal online portfolios and document their creative journey.

These digital portfolios will not only help students reflect on their growth, but will also allow families and the community to celebrate their work through online showcases. Sharing their art online will support fundraising efforts for the art room—whether through virtual galleries, student art prints, or community donations—helping us build a stronger, more connected creative space.

b) What learning goal or academic outcome does the project address?

This project helps students grow both artistically and personally. They will learn how to use digital tools to express their ideas, build confidence by sharing their work with others, and develop important skills in photography, design, and collaboration—especially through our new digital art and yearbook class. Most importantly, it gives students the chance to feel seen, valued, and proud of what they create. Their art becomes more than just a school project—it becomes a way to connect, communicate, and make a difference in their community.

Color Coated Learning Space

Veterans Memorial Elementary

The overall purpose of this project is to create a more organized and structured art classroom that allows students to use their time more effectively and independently. By creating a color-coded and clearly labeled system for art supplies and materials, students will be able to quickly identify and retrieve the resources they need with minimal assistance. This addresses the need for improved time management, reduces classroom disruptions, and supports students of all abilities—particularly those who benefit from visual structure and consistency.

This project supports key learning goals related to time management, personal responsibility, and independence—skills that extend beyond the art room and benefit students across all academic areas. Additionally, by maximizing instructional time, students will have more opportunities to engage in creative exploration, problem-solving, and fine motor skill development through art-making. The improved structure also helps reinforce routines, which is essential for creating a positive and productive learning environment.

Frame a Leader

Lake Park Elementary

The purpose of this project is to recognize and celebrate students who demonstrate positive character traits, leadership, and personal growth. Through the use of picture
frames displayed in a special classroom, we aim to highlight students who have been
nominated as house leaders or who consistently exemplify the values our school
promotes. This visual recognition system supports a positive school culture and helps students feel seen, valued, and motivated to contribute in meaningful ways. It addresses the need for student engagement, motivation, and community building within our grade level’s house system.

b) What learning goal or academic outcome does the project address?

This project supports social-emotional learning by promoting self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and positive relationships. It also encourages students to take ownership of their behavior and contributions to the school community. By tying recognition to specific attributes such as responsibility, kindness, perseverance, and leadership, we foster a growth mindset and a deeper understanding of what it means to be a contributing member of a learning community. Communicate & Connect: Business Letter Project

Aubrey Rogers High

The purpose of this project is to equip high school students with essential real-world communication skills that extend beyond digital interactions. It addresses the need for students to understand and practice formal written communication in a business context.
This project will addresses several key needs:
• Real-World Application: It moves beyond theoretical learning by having students engage with actual businesses they know, making the learning more relatable and practical. This helps bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world scenarios, preparing them for future interactions with companies as consumers, employees, or entrepreneurs.
• Professionalism and Etiquette: The project teaches students about the importance of a professional tone, clear articulation, and proper formatting—skills crucial for effective communication in academic, professional, and civic life.
• Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Students must think critically about a product or service, formulate constructive feedback or specific inquiries, and organize their thoughts logically to present them effectively.
• Attention to Detail: The act of correctly addressing an envelope and formatting a letter reinforces the importance of precision and attention to detail in formal contexts.
The primary learning goal of this project is for students to demonstrate proficiency in drafting and formatting a professional business letter, including accurate envelope addressing, while effectively communicating a specific purpose (e.g., feedback, inquiry, suggestion) to an external organization.

I’m Certified!

Lely High

The overall purpose of this project is to recognize and celebrate students who achieve success in earning industry certifications through their Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. These certifications are a critical step toward workforce readiness and post-secondary success. By providing t-shirts as a tangible form of recognition, this project addresses the need for student motivation, encouragement, and visibility of academic and career-focused accomplishments. Many students work diligently to master the skills and knowledge required to pass these rigorous exams, yet often receive limited recognition. The t-shirts serve to affirm their hard work, boost confidence, and inspire a positive culture of achievement within the school community.
This project supports the academic outcome of successful completion and mastery of industry certification exams aligned with Florida state standards and CCPS CTE curriculum goals. These certifications validate students' proficiency in job-related skills and are recognized by employers and post-secondary institutions. By incentivizing certification success, the project promotes engagement in course content, mastery of technical skills, and long-term college and career readiness. It also supports soft skills such as goal-setting, persistence, and pride in achievement—critical components of lifelong learning.

Bound for Success

Lely High

The overall purpose of this project is to provide students with organized, personalized workbooks that support their preparation for industry certification exams. By using a binding machine, I will be able to professionally bind the custom workbooks I’ve created, which include targeted study materials, practice questions, vocabulary, and exam strategies aligned with certification standards. This project addresses student needs such as the following:
• Organization: Many students struggle with keeping their notes and study materials together. The workbook will consolidate everything into one, easy-to-manage resource.
• Consistency: A bound workbook ensures all students have access to the same high-quality content and structure for their learning.
• Engagement: Having a personalized, physical resource increases student ownership and motivation, helping them feel more prepared and confident.
• Equity: Not all students have the resources to print or organize materials at home. This project ensures every student is equally equipped to succeed.
This project directly supports the academic goal of improving student performance on industry certification exams by reinforcing content mastery, study skills, and test-taking strategies. The workbooks are designed to mirror the certification standards and include scaffolded practice activities to build student proficiency.
Additionally, this project supports key academic skills such as note-taking, reviewing content, organizing information, and applying knowledge in a structured way. The expected outcome is higher student achievement on certification assessments, increased confidence, and stronger preparation for college and career pathways.

Pages with Purpose: Matching Stories to Student Voices

Naples Christian Academy

The purpose of this project is to expand and diversify my middle school classroom library to better reflect the varied interests, identities, and reading levels of my students. I want to create a space where every student—regardless of their background or reading ability—can find a book that speaks to them. My current library lacks depth in certain genres and student-requested topics such as poetry, free verse, historical fiction, nonfiction, biographies, and STEM-related texts. By building a more inclusive and genre-rich collection, I can more effectively support student curiosity and choice.

This project directly supports my grade-level ELA standards by encouraging genre exploration and independent reading. As students study and analyze different genres across 6th–8th grade, the expanded library will allow them to continue engaging with genres they enjoy independently. This will promote deeper understanding of genre characteristics, foster critical thinking, and strengthen literacy skills. The project also aligns with our school-wide focus on increasing student engagement through personalized learning experiences.

Books Come to Life: A Living Literature Project

Estates Elementary

a) The purpose of Books Come to Life is to increase student engagement in reading, comprehension, and expression by transforming literature into hands-on, performance-based experiences. Many of my students—especially ELL and ESE learners—need creative, multimodal ways to demonstrate understanding. This project addresses the need for differentiated instruction, equitable access to materials, and activities that allow all students to feel confident and connected to texts.

b) This project supports deep engagement with grade-level literary texts by addressing multiple Florida B.E.S.T. ELA standards in an integrated, student-centered format. Students will analyze how story elements—such as setting, conflict, and characterization—develop the plot (ELA.5.R.1.1), explain how themes emerge and evolve across a text (ELA.5.R.1.2), and describe character perspective and development (ELA.5.R.1.3). As students respond through dramatic performance, visual storytelling, or creative writing, they will apply narrative techniques, organizational structures, elaboration, and varied transitions to enhance clarity and meaning (ELA.5.C.1.2, ELA.5.C.1.4). Oral presentation of student work builds speaking and listening skills aligned to ELA.5.C.2.1, while rehearsing and presenting scenes aloud supports fluency, prosody, and expression (ELA.5.F.1.4). By combining literary analysis with creative expression, this project allows students to demonstrate mastery of standards in authentic and engaging ways.

Many of my students lack access to new or high-interest books at home or through our limited classroom library. b) The SSYRA Book Club project directly supports Florida B.E.S.T. ELA benchmarks that build independent reading stamina, comprehension, and analysis. As students read across genres, they will summarize texts with attention to theme, plot, and central ideas and explain how relevant details support the central idea in informational texts. Regular reading and discussion of SSYRA titles will improve fluency, accuracy, and prosody and strengthen the ability to analyze an author’s purpose and perspective. Book response projects will support the use of academic vocabulary in speaking and writing, and written reflections will reinforce elaboration and organization. These books are approved, engaging, and a specially curated list of books that will capture the attention of our young readers. The ultimate goal is to increase excitement about reading independently.

Our Title 1 school has been working hard to improve in the area of ELA. More specifically, we are focusing on independent reading and stamina this year.

Our Title 1 status indicates that we have a large population of underprivileged students who do not always have the advantage of being exposed to multiple genres and making connections with the world and new vocabulary. We would like to help with this by purchasing the books and tracking their usage.

Wonder Readers' Marketplace – Inspiring Lifelong Readers Through Incentives

Shadowlawn Elementary

The overall purpose of the Wonder Readers' Marketplace is to foster a love of reading and improve literacy outcomes by providing students with meaningful incentives tied to their reading achievements. This project addresses the need for increased student engagement in reading, especially among reluctant or struggling readers. By connecting reading success with tangible rewards, the program creates a fun and motivating environment that encourages consistent reading habits and celebrates academic growth.

It also supports broader school goals by:

Reinforcing the importance of literacy across all grade levels.
Promoting equity by ensuring all students have access to rewards based on effort and achievement.
Aligning with our school theme, “Be the Eighth Wonder,” by inspiring students to discover the wonder of books and learning.

The project directly supports key academic outcomes in literacy, including:

Reading comprehension: Students must understand and retain information to pass AR quizzes.
Vocabulary development: Exposure to diverse texts enhances language skills.
Fluency and stamina: Regular reading builds confidence and endurance.
Goal-setting and self-monitoring: Students track their progress and strive to improve.

These outcomes contribute to overall academic success and prepare students for future learning by building foundational literacy skills in a joyful and engaging way.

Basking in the Sunshine State Reader Program

Pelican Marsh Elementary

The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) Program is a statewide reading motivational program for students in grades 3 through 8. The purpose of the SSYRA Program is to encourage students to read independently for pleasure and to read books that are on, above, and below their reading level in order to improve their reading fluency. Sunshine State books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation. The SSYRA committee is comprised of 20 qualified school librarians located throughout the state of Florida, subdivided into two committees- grades 3-5 and grades 6-8.

Media specialists representing all districts across the state work with integrity and heart to curate great lists each year, with the goal for each and every one of Florida’s students to find three books they want to read and with which they can connect. That’s all it takes for students to vote for their favorites: read at least three and vote. We are especially proud of these lists, knowing they are for our students first and believe that students will find at least three to read this year. We know that not every book is for every student, but we want every student to have the chance to find the book they need, whether it be a window, a mirror, or a door to another world.

A Flexible Tool for a Diverse Population

Immokalee High

A) Every year, I strive to guide large classes of lately arriving students who are both new to the United States and to English through the monumental task of making roughly fifteen years of linguistic growth inside of two in the hope that even if they struggle to pass the benchmarks for graduation set forth by the state in language arts, they'll be capable of surpassing those demands within four. These students frequently arrive speaking Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Kiche, Maam, Akatek, and a variety of other tribal languages only found in the departments of Guatemala. They all come with little to no English exposure and more than a small number come with no formal schooling. These students come to us having experienced more in their short years than many of us will in a lifetime. They come seeking a better life. There are few routes more secure in obtaining this than a good education. A good education requires an understanding of the host culture's language. This proposal seeks nothing more than to offer these students learning English as a new language flexible and stout tools with which to build a solid foundation in English.
B) This investment targets growth in understanding the English language across three separate skill levels. It is not inconceivable to state that it could impact all academic goals that demand a usage of our language in both everyday and academic language. Specifically, however, this investment will focus on rapid, high-utility vocabulary acquisition; usage of basic grammar rules; speaking; listening; and scaffolded comprehension skills using targeted practice.

Class Sets of SSYRA 2025–2026 Books for Fifth Grade

Osceola Elementary

a) Overall Purpose and Need
The purpose of this project is to foster a love of reading and improve literacy skills by giving all students direct access to the SSYRA titles. These award-nominated books are carefully selected to be diverse, age-appropriate, and high-interest, appealing to a wide range of reading levels. Currently, access to these books is limited to only a few copies per grade level, which can create barriers to participation. By providing one full set of titles per classroom, we remove obstacles to access, promote inclusivity, and ensure that all students can engage fully in the SSYRA program.

b) Learning Goal / Academic Outcome
This project supports district and state literacy goals by increasing reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development. It also encourages higher-order thinking through discussion, literary analysis, and cross-curricular connections. Participation in SSYRA reading will help students meet or exceed grade-level reading standards, strengthen their ability to analyze complex texts, and prepare them for success in middle school and beyond. Additionally, the shared reading experience builds a community of readers who engage in respectful dialogue, make text-to-world connections, and develop empathy through diverse perspectives in literature.

Shakespeare in the Classroom with Gulfshore Playhouse

Barron Collier High

Gulfshore Playhouse - The Landscape of Shakespeare

Grade 10 English Language Arts, Theatre
Length: 6 session, 50 minutes each

Objective:
Students learn to approach Shakespeare from a theatre angle: breaking down text, working with rhythm, and engaging with language in the particular way that actors learn to make the language come to life for scene work, auditions, and performances. The program includes a 6 session residency in which Gulfshore Playhouse artists work with students on sonnets and ultimately the presentation of scenes.

Tenth graders collaborating with Gulfshore Playhouse’s Landscape of Shakespeare program gain critical thinking, communication, and empathy skills, enriching academics and personal growth through immersive, professional theatre experiences that inspire creativity, collaboration, and lifelong appreciation for the arts.

This experience equips tenth graders with stronger communication skills, confidence in public speaking, empathy for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving abilities—tools that enhance classroom participation, teamwork, and relationship-building in their daily academic and social lives.

The students will be able to analyze multiple interpretations of a story, drama, or poem by performing and evaluating how each version interprets the source text. Students will be able to research and analyze a dramatic text by breaking it down into its basic, structural elements to support development of a directorial concept, characterization, and design. The arts are inherently experiential and actively engage learners in the processes of creating, interpreting, and responding to art. Development of these skills, techniques, and processes in the arts strengthens one’s ability to remember, focus on, process, and sequence information. Through purposeful practice, artists learn to manage, master, and refine simple, then complex, skills and techniques.

Standards:
ELA.10.R.1.1 Analyze how key elements enhance or add layers of meaning and/or style in a literary text.
ELA.10.R.1.2 Analyze and compare universal themes and their development throughout a literary text.
ELA.10.R.3.1 Analyze how figurative language creates mood in text(s).
ELA.10.R.3.4 Analyze an author’s use of rhetoric in a text.
ELA.10.R.3.2 Paraphrase content from grade-level texts.
ELA.10.V.1.1: Integrate academic vocabulary appropriate to grade level in speaking and writing.
ELA.10.V.1.2: Apply knowledge of etymology and derivations to determine meanings of words and phrases in grade-level content.
ELA.10.V.1.3: Apply knowledge of context clues, figurative language, word relationships, reference materials, and/or background knowledge to determine the connotative and denotative meaning of words and phrases, appropriate to grade level.

Collaboration is KEY

Lake Park Elementary

The overall purpose of this project is to create engaging, immersive learning experiences for all third grade students through classroom room transformations. By temporarily redesigning the classroom to reflect a specific theme—such as Candyland, basketball, or medical—students are transported into a dynamic learning environment that ignites curiosity, encourages creativity, and increases motivation. This approach addresses the need for student engagement, differentiated instruction, and inclusive learning spaces that accommodate a variety of learning styles. It also fosters a sense of excitement and ownership over learning, which can be especially impactful for students who may struggle with traditional instruction methods.

This project supports the learning goal of increasing student engagement and deepening content understanding across multiple subject areas, including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Room transformations are carefully aligned with academic standards and unit objectives, allowing students to apply grade-level concepts in an interactive and memorable way. Ultimately, the project aims to improve academic outcomes by fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and enthusiasm for learning, while ensuring that all third grade students can participate meaningfully regardless of their individual needs or abilities.

Focused Minds, Calm Hearts: Sensory Tools for Learning Success

Seacrest Country Day School - Lower School

1. Goal(s)

a) Purpose & Need
The purpose of this project is to create a more inclusive and supportive classroom environment for students with sensory processing needs. Many children struggle with self-regulation, focus, and emotional balance when they experience overstimulation or under-stimulation in the classroom. Without appropriate tools, these challenges can lead to frustration, anxiety, and missed learning opportunities. This project seeks to provide sensory-friendly resources that help students regulate their bodies and minds so they can engage more fully in learning.

b) Learning Goal/Academic Outcome
By reducing sensory barriers, students will be better able to concentrate on instruction, participate actively, and demonstrate growth in core academic skills. Specifically, the project supports goals of improved attention, stronger self-regulation, and greater access to the curriculum, which are essential for academic achievement in literacy, mathematics, and other subject areas.

Shaping Success: Kidney Tables for Targeted Math Support in an ESE Classroom

Palmetto Ridge High

The purpose of this project is to provide kidney-shaped tables to support small-group instruction in a math classroom serving Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students. These tables will create a structured, inclusive, and accessible space for targeted math intervention, allowing the teacher to pull students for intensive, differentiated instruction based on their individual needs. Many ESE students require focused support in a quieter, more personal setting to build foundational math skills and increase engagement, which traditional desks and classroom setups do not adequately support. The kidney tables will help meet these needs by enabling better proximity, visibility, and interaction between the teacher and students during small-group sessions.

This project addresses the goal of improving foundational math skills and conceptual understanding among ESE students who are performing below grade level. The small-group setting facilitated by the kidney tables will enable the teacher to deliver targeted instruction, scaffold learning, and provide immediate feedback—key strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs. The expected academic outcomes include increased student confidence, improved math fluency, and measurable progress toward meeting grade-level standards in mathematics as outlined in the Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student.

Interactive Guided Note Sticker

Eden Park Elementary

The purpose of this project is to provide each math teacher at Eden Park Elementary with a Bluetooth thermal label printer and compatible MUNBYN 4'x6' direct thermal labels to efficiently print premade guided notes, worked examples, and other instructional supports directly for students.
Currently, preparing and distributing these resources can take significant time away from instruction, especially when teachers must rely on centralized printing or require students to cut and paste materials into their interactive notebooks. This process can be time-consuming, distracting, and result in uneven quality of student materials. With their own dedicated printer, each teacher can instantly produce ready-to-use guided notes that adhere directly into student notebooks eliminating the need for cutting and pasting so students can focus on learning rather than assembling materials. This ensures equitable access to clear, organized resources that support comprehension and engagement.
This project directly supports our learning goal of increasing student success in mathematics by ensuring all students have access to well structured guided notes and problem solving aids during lessons. Research shows that guided notes help students focus on key concepts, organize information, and actively engage with content. By removing barriers such as time lost to cutting and pasting, we can promote stronger conceptual understanding, improve note taking efficiency, and maximize instructional time. Ultimately, this project aims to increase student achievement in math as reflected in classroom performance, progress monitoring data, and state assessments.

Everyday is a (Chuck) Berry-Goode Day

Vineyards Elementary

Students will be introduced to one of rock and roll’s most influential pioneers—Chuck Berry. This is a continuation of my long-term goal to highlight a different pioneer of rock and roll each school year. By the end of the project in the 2025-2026 school year, students will be familiar with Chuck Berry’s life, his groundbreaking contributions, and his enduring impact on rock, blues, and rhythm and blues. They will appreciate how his innovative guitar techniques and energetic performance style paved the way for generations of musicians. Students will also engage with instruments and techniques reminiscent of those Chuck Berry popularized. The culminating session will have the students perform a simplified arrangement of his iconic song “Johnny B. Goode” using instrument replicas.
This project not only deepens the students’ musical knowledge but also reinforces key concepts such as melody, harmony, rhythm, pitch, improvisation, and small ensemble performance. The improvisational segments are intended to encourage creativity, reduce the fear of mistakes, and boost self-esteem and confidence.
In addition to these musical benefits, the project will also enrich students’ literacy skills. Aligned with Vineyards Elementary’s school improvement goals (as measured by the FAST Assessment PM3), dedicated time will be allocated for modeled and independent reading centered on the book “Chuck Berry: A Life from Beginning to End”.
An added benefit to this project is to show connections in a “Family Tree Style” from one musician to another. And how many musicians can be traced back to our featured musician from the 2024-2025 school year, Buddy Holly. Much of Holly’s inspiration came from Chuck Berry and other African American musicians. Berry’s distinctive guitar style and lyrical themes stuck with Holly and helped shape the sound of early rock & roll.

Real Connections

Barron Collier High

The purpose of “Real Connections” is to immerse Spanish 3 and 4 students in authentic, real-world Spanish language and culture through curated materials that reflect how Spanish is used in professional, social, and cultural contexts across the Spanish-speaking world. This project aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the dynamic, global reality students will encounter in college, in the workforce, and as global citizens.

The need it addresses is the lack of access to real-world, engaging, and culturally relevant materials in the traditional classroom. While textbooks provide a strong grammatical foundation, they often lack current, authentic content that shows students how Spanish is used in real life — in magazines, job postings, online news, social media, visual storytelling, and career fields.

The project supports the following learning goals and outcomes:
1. Interpretive Communication (Reading/Listening)
2. Interpersonal and Presentational Communication
3. Cultural Competence and Career Readiness
4. Higher-Level Language Proficiency
As Spanish 3 and 4 are upper-level courses, this project emphasizes:
Advanced vocabulary for the workplace and academic discussions
Complex grammatical structures in an authentic context

Flexible Seating

Pelican Marsh Elementary

The purpose of this project is to transform my third-grade classroom into a more inclusive, student-centered environment by incorporating flexible seating options. By offering choices like saucer chairs, floor cushions, donut ball chairs, and faux fur rugs, I aim to support students’ physical comfort, improve focus, and promote engagement—ultimately leading to better academic outcomes. This project supports the following goals:

Increase student engagement and time-on-task during independent and group work.

Improve classroom behavior and reduce off-task interruptions by providing physical comfort and sensory regulation options.

Foster student choice, collaboration, and self-regulation.

Create a warm, welcoming environment that enhances student motivation and readiness to learn.

Although not directly tied to specific content standards, flexible seating indirectly supports all academic goals by creating conditions that allow students to focus, collaborate, and participate more effectively in learning activities.

Personal Finance and Money Management

Naples High

The purpose of this project is to enhance student engagement and comprehension in the newly required FLDOE Personal Finance and Money Management course for 11th grade students by incorporating interactive, hands-on learning tools. To address the need for experiential financial education, this initiative will utilize board games such as Monopoly and The Game of Life, along with electronic piggy banks. These tools allow students to actively explore key financial concepts—such as earning income, budgeting, saving, investing, and managing debt—through relatable, game-based scenarios. By simulating real-life financial decisions in a classroom setting, students develop critical thinking and decision-making skills in a fun, low-risk environment.

This project directly supports the academic outcomes outlined in the FLDOE standards for personal finance. Students will demonstrate understanding of income, taxes, and employment benefits; create and maintain personal budgets; evaluate saving and investment strategies; and make informed consumer and financial decisions. The use of interactive games and savings tools helps students visualize and apply these concepts in a tangible way, fostering deeper comprehension and long-term retention. Ultimately, this project aims to prepare students to become financially responsible adults who are equipped to navigate real-world financial challenges with confidence and skill.

Extending the impact-Peli-Can Way program 25-26

Poinciana Elementary

Poinciana Elementary introduced last year a new positive behavior system to our staff and students. Our attempt was to take the school's traditional expectations and merge them with some of Leader in Me and PBIS elements to create a uniquely 'Poinciana' culture.
Within our main goal, we had our staff and students adapt a more unified positive attitude and behavior culture on campus by incorporating the school-wide positive behavior incentive program; The Peli-CAN Way. This program provided year round guidance for behavior expectations and mindset. Students were positively recognized for their demonstration of positive behavior and mindset through a variety of incentives.
This contributed to a decrease in discipline and increase in resiliency and leadership.

This school year we would like to expand on this program with additional visual materials through our campus. These visual materials will continue to help our staff teach and model our Peli-Can Way program.

Reader are Leaders - Wear it With Pride

Pinecrest Elementary

School libraries are often seen as the hub of the campus. It is important that this space
is inviting, engaging and a great place to visit. Furthermore, providing our student
visitors with incentives for reading is critical to enhancing reading time and for instilling a love of reading. Last year our students collectively earned over 25,000 Accelerated
Reader points. This amazing accomplishment creating excitement on campus, pushing
students to read more to add to their accrual of points. Reading incentive programs can
also help to build momentum for many children, especially reluctant readers, by acting
as a 'spark' to overcome initial resistance.
The more students read, the more experience they will have with text. From decoding
to syllabicating and from learning vocabulary to building their comprehension, the
literacy skills are endless. When students become better readers, their self-esteem is
improved and so is their dedication to their studies. Through the earning of -tshirts as
incentives for reaching grade level milestones, our students can show off their success
and motivate their peers to do the same.

CULTIVATING LEADERSHIP THROUGH YEARBOOK

Herbert Cambridge Elementary

This year we started a student club for our school yearbook. The vision is to give creative power to the students, especially our 5th graders, who will each receive a yearbook at graduation. Allowing this project to be student-led gives students real-world experience in project management, photography, and technology use. It will also help them practice responsibility and teamwork. Our hope is that students will feel empowered to take ownership of school storytelling and guarantee the final outcome reflects their voice.
Our biggest struggles with yearbook in the past has been collecting pictures and designing pages. While many teachers take pictures of their students at events throughout the year, not many of them remember to send or upload them to our Teams. Unfortunately, even the pictures that are submitted are often unusable due to poor quality while uploading. To remedy this, we are asking for two iPads that can be used by the 5th grade students to collect pictures of all grade levels. We specifically requested iPads so that on club days, students can use the airdrop feature to collect pictures from teachers, as well as take pictures at club events.

By purchasing membership for two highly reputable high school science-focused organizations, I (and, in turn, my students and others in the school) will gain the benefit of well-vetted and usable resources. Science teachers often must 'create their own materials' for instruction due to a lack of quality, adaptable resources that supplement what is provided in the curriculum and pacing guides. By providing innovative and engaging class activities that are FLDOE learning goal-focused, students will be more successful in learning science and communicating evidence of their learning.

Classroom Aquaponics Bringing Chemistry to Life

Oakridge Middle

a) What is the overall purpose of this project and what need(s) does it address?
The purpose of this project is to upgrade an existing classroom aquaponics system to provide a more robust, sustainable, and engaging platform for science instruction. The original system was built using repurposed and makeshift materials as a pilot to determine whether aquaponics could enhance student understanding of middle school chemistry concepts aligned with Florida’s science standards. After two full years of implementation and data collection, results have demonstrated that this approach not only deepens conceptual understanding but also significantly boosts student performance.
This need for an upgrade is driven by the strong outcomes already achieved. On the most recent State Science Assessment, 70% of my students achieved a passing score, compared to the statewide average of 49%. Among English Language Learners, my classroom saw a 38% pass rate—more than double the state average of 18%. All of my advanced students (100%) passed. These gains are particularly impressive given the challenges of teaching complex chemistry concepts to a diverse student population using a makeshift system.
To maintain and build upon these gains, the aquaponics system must now be upgraded with durable, classroom-appropriate materials. A more reliable setup will allow for broader instructional use, better accommodate growing class sizes, and minimize instructional disruptions due to equipment failure. The project addresses the need for equitable access to high-quality, real-world STEM learning tools that are proven to elevate academic achievement.

b) What learning goals or academic outcomes does the project address?

This project addresses student mastery of key Florida middle school chemistry standards, including SC.8.P.8.7 (atomic theory), SC.8.P.9.1 (law of conservation of mass), and SC.8.P.9.2 (chemical and physical changes). The upgraded aquaponics system will allow students to explore these standards through direct application—monitoring chemical reactions in nutrient cycling, testing water quality, and observing real-time changes in matter within a living ecosystem.
Through this hands-on approach, my students develop a deeper understanding of scientific processes, data collection, and experimental design. The strong results from the previous year demonstrate that this method not only supports standards mastery but also improves performance across diverse student groups. The upgraded system will ensure consistent access to these learning experiences, resulting in higher academic achievement, stronger critical thinking skills, and a more equitable learning environment for all students.

Every Drop Counts: Turning Rain to Resource

Oakridge Middle

The purpose of this grant is to fund the installation of an educational rainwater harvesting system at Oakridge Middle School. This system will be used to promote environmental literacy, hands-on STEM education, and sustainable water practices among students.
Water Conservation is a hot topic- one that I believe will be of the utmost importance in the near future.
I want my Earth Science Students to learn not only how to use a water collection system, but why this practice will provide environmental, practical, and economic advantages.

Bacvkground Information
Rainwater Systems...
~Protect natural ecosystems: By using collected OMS water, students will reduce the need to extract water from rivers, lakes, or underground aquifers, preserving those ecosystems. This is particularly useful during dry seasons or droughts, both of which students will be learning about this year.
~Reduce water bills, especially in homes or buildings that use large amounts of water for gardens, flushing toilets, or cleaning. We will utilize our rainwater system with our Gardyn System- a hydroponic indoor gardening system that students will maintain and grow vegetables, fruits and herbs to take home to their families. This will add even more sustainability to our system and will show my students tangible ways to become more self-sufficient! In addition, collected rainwater is often better for plants (it’s soft and free from chlorine or salts).
~ Rainwater Collection also helps mitigate flooding and erosion and it encouraged by Collier County. My students will be comparing areas around campus to make observations about erosion in areas that have collection and those that do not.
This project will cover many learning standards of 6th grade Earth Science, including weather and water distribution, erosional processes, human impacts on our local environment and sustainability practices. We will also use the system to extract data, improve student critical analysis and make connections across Earth systems . Students will also learn how to illustrate our data in various charts and graphs.

Sustainable Gardening for the Future: PART 2

Oakridge Middle

My goal is to teach my students a more sustainable way to garden.
In 2023, we were awarded a generous grant for the Gardyn 3.0 System. It was an incredible experience for my students that year and since: offering a hands -on opportunity for students to grow food from seed to table has been priceless! However, the system only came with a one-year membership.

I have paid out of pocket since the initial membership expired. My hope is to garner the support for a one-year membership for this current year so my new students can be a part of this amazing experience. This membership includes 10 monthly plant credits for seeds, plant food, and accessories, plus 24/7 monitoring and personalized guidance from the AI assistant Kelby, access to member-only plants and promotions, exclusive discounts on additional items, and the unique vacation mode to pause plant growth.

In 2025, Naples, FL experienced an extreme drought: This past year's dry season was labeled the worst since 2001, with much of Collier County experiencing 'Extreme Drought' conditions (level D3 on the U.S. Drought Monitor scale).
I continue to believe that it is of the utmost importance to show my students (every year with this system) a more sustainable method of produce harvesting.

The Florida 6th Grade Earth Science Learning Goals that will strengthened by the utilization of the Gardyn System are:
1. SC.6.E.7.4 – Differentiate and describe the components of the water cycle, including evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation, infiltration, and runoff.
-Students will observe how rainwater moves through real-world systems (e.g., runoff and collection), reinforcing this concept beyond textbooks.
2. SC.6.E.7.5 – Explain how energy provided by the sun influences global patterns of atmospheric movement and the temperature differences between air, water, and land.
-Students will analyze how solar energy affects rainfall and water collection, helping them connect climate and weather patterns to water availability.
3. SC.6.E.7.6 – Differentiate between weather and climate.
- By tracking local rainfall data over time including the wet and dry season in Florida, students will understand short-term weather events vs. long-term climate trends.
4. SC.6.N.1.1 – Define a problem from the 6th-grade curriculum, use appropriate reference materials to support scientific understanding, plan and carry out scientific investigations…
→-Students will engage in problem-solving (how to conserve water), research solutions, and collect real data from the system they help build.
5. SC.6.E.7.5 Identify the impact of humans on Earth (this includes water quality, changing the flow of water and resource management, particularly Florida environmental resources). – Students will analyze how human choices affect water, soil, and energy resources as well as learn the value of water conservation that benefit their community and environment.
6. SC.6.E.7.8 Describe ways human beings protect themselves from hazardous weather and how technology helps scientists plan for and respond to natural disasters.
- Students can explore how indoor farming like hydroponics reduces reliance on weather patterns and can support food stability in climate-vulnerable areas.
7. SC.6.E.7.9 Describe how the composition and structure of the atmosphere protects life and insulates the planet.
-Students can connect plant growth to environmental conditions like light, temperature, and CO₂, linking atmospheric roles in plant health.

Champions Golden Review

Golden Gate Middle

During the academic calendar year 2024 - 2025, the teachers of Golden Gate Middle School implemented what we referred to as the 'Green Dot Challenge.' The goal of the Green Dot Challenge was to meet the students at their current learning level specifically capitalizing on their need to challenge themselves. To this end we developed a standard where children had to do three sections of review a week (out of a possible 32) for a grade. The students reviewed principles of Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science as well as the Nature of Science (Scientific Method). They then took a test to prove their mastery. Students scoring 80% or above received a green dot which meant they had fulfilled one of their required three mastery level assignments for the week. If they achieved less than 80%, they were required to sit through the supplemental instruction videos contained in Progress Learning and to then retake the assessment. They could do this repeatedly until they reached the required 80% proficiency. At the conclusion of the week, they received classroom points as a homework category, and they received a red ticket that qualified them for the drawing at the conclusion of the week. The students then were selected in the morning news, six every two weeks, and they received prizes that were donated by businesses and teachers. The students who won were featured in the news on the next day along with the pictures of their winnings. Additionally at the end the students who completed all 32 sections with a grade of Green also were rewarded with an ice cream party at the end funded by the teachers. Unfortunately, the vehicle by which all of this was made possible, specifically the access to 'Progress Learning' was eliminated due to budget cuts by the district for the 2025 - 2026 academic calendar year. Because we saw such giant gains in the Florida State Assessment, the entirety of the faculty wishes to do everything in our power to bring this program back. Thus we are seeking funding of $2,000 that will be put toward purchasing access to 'Progress Learning' for the upcoming school year for our students.

Gross and Fine Motor Outdoor Equipment for Pre-K ESE Students

Pelican Marsh Elementary

a) The overall purpose of this project is to support the developmental, educational, and functional needs of special needs preschoolers by integrating gross motor equipment into daily instructional routines and learning environments. This project addresses the critical need for purposeful movement opportunities that are developmentally appropriate and tailored to the diverse physical, cognitive, sensory, and behavioral profiles of young children with special needs. Children in this population often experience delays or deficits in motor planning, coordination, balance, strength, spatial awareness, and sensory processing. Without targeted interventions and daily opportunities to develop these foundational skills, they may face greater challenges in academic readiness, self-regulation, communication, and social interaction. Gross motor equipment—such as balance beams, climbing structures, trampolines, tunnels, scooters, or obstacle courses—serves as both a therapeutic and educational tool, providing a structured way for children to engage in physical activity that improves core strength, coordination, sensory integration, and attention. Additionally, consistent gross motor activity helps children with special needs to reduce anxiety, increase focus, enhance engagement, and develop the body awareness necessary for more advanced functional and academic tasks. By embedding these tools into the daily routine, the project ensures that students are not only meeting physical milestones but are also better prepared for the classroom environment, thus supporting their overall development and well-being.

b)The primary learning goal of this project is to promote whole-child development, with a specific focus on physical development as a foundation for cognitive, behavioral, and social-emotional growth. This project directly addresses early learning standards and developmental domains such as:

1. Physical Development & Motor Skills: Enhancing gross motor skills such as walking, jumping, balancing, and climbing, which are foundational for later fine motor tasks (e.g., writing, cutting).

2. Cognitive Development: Improving attention span, working memory, and problem-solving through structured physical tasks and movement-based learning.

3. Self-Regulation & Executive Functioning: Helping students manage transitions, follow multi-step directions, and regulate emotional responses through physical activity.

4. Social Development: Encouraging turn-taking, cooperation, and communication during group gross motor activities.

Gross motor play also supports early literacy and numeracy development. For example, hopping from number to number or navigating obstacle courses based on color/shape prompts integrates academic learning with physical activity, catering to multiple learning styles. In summary, this project ensures that special needs preschoolers are not only physically active but are also learning through movement—an evidence-based practice that supports inclusive, engaging, and differentiated instruction. Ultimately, the integration of gross motor equipment helps bridge developmental gaps and sets students on a path toward academic and lifelong success.

This insight can help us spot kids who might be having a challenging time with social communication, so we can provide the right support. Since there aren’t many standardized assessments out there for pragmatic language skills, SLPs often rely mostly on observations and interviews. This tool adds another layer to that process, giving us additional helpful information and compares students to other children their age.

Building Motor Skills Through Play

Palmetto Elementary

The purpose of this project is to enhance the motor development and functional independence of exceptional student education (ESE) students within modified curriculum classrooms by providing high-quality, durable therapeutic materials. These resources will address a significant need for engaging, hands-on tools that support fine motor coordination, hand strength, and bilateral integration—skills that many of my students struggle to develop due to physical or developmental challenges.

By incorporating these materials into daily center rotations and play-based therapy sessions, students will improve critical motor skills such as manipulating small objects, using both hands together, and constructing designs—activities that directly support classroom readiness and academic engagement. These foundational skills are essential not only for completing academic tasks like writing, cutting, and using classroom tools, but also for building independence in daily living activities. This project aims to create more equitable learning opportunities by helping ESE students participate more fully and confidently in both academic and functional environments.

Supporting Social-Pragmatic Development Through Everyday Speech

Gulfview Middle

The purpose of this project is to support the development of social communication skills in middle school students with social pragmatic disorders. As a speech-language pathologist, I work with students who struggle with skills such as conversation, perspective-taking, emotional regulation, and interpreting nonverbal cues—challenges that often impact their academic performance and peer relationships. This grant will allow me to use Everyday Speech during my scheduled speech and language therapy sessions to provide structured, engaging, and evidence-based instruction that directly targets these areas of need.

The primary learning goal of this project is to help students make measurable progress on their IEP objectives related to pragmatic language and social interaction. By improving their ability to communicate effectively and navigate social situations, students will also gain confidence, participate more fully in classroom activities, and develop stronger peer relationships. Ultimately, this project aims to support both the social-emotional and academic growth of my students through consistent, targeted intervention.

PBIS Rewards

Lely High

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is especially important for special needs students because it provides a consistent, structured, and supportive environment that helps them succeed both academically and socially. Many students with special needs benefit from clear expectations, predictable routines, and positive reinforcement, which PBIS emphasizes. This framework helps reduce disruptive behavior by teaching and rewarding appropriate behaviors rather than focusing solely on punishment. For students who may struggle with communication, emotional regulation, or social interaction, PBIS creates a safe and inclusive atmosphere where they can build confidence, develop crucial life skills, and feel supported by their peers and educators. Overall, PBIS promotes equity by meeting students where they are and helping them grow in a respectful and understanding setting.

Dyslexia-Friendly Classroom Library

Educational Pathways Academy

The purpose of this proposal is to create a dyslexia-friendly classroom library that provides students at Educational Pathways Academy with exciting new opportunities to discover the joy of reading through appropriate and engaging texts for daily practice and leisure reading. Dyslexic students require structured literacy instruction and consistent opportunities to practice with decodable texts that align with their phonics scope and sequence. Based on my experience and training, I have selected a wide variety of books that foster independent reading, help students build fluency, and limit frustration. This project addresses the need for a library tailored to the literacy needs of students with language-based learning disabilities, ensuring that my students have access to materials that are accessible, meaningful, and supportive of their reading development. An influx of brand-new reading material is also exciting for students, and I hope to provide them with many new books to explore.
The primary learning goal of our classroom library is to strengthen students’ reading fluency, accuracy, and comprehension by providing daily opportunities to read texts that are intentionally selected for their learning needs. By building a library rich in decodable books and high-interest/low-readability (“hi-lo”) titles, students will increase their time spent reading, apply phonics skills with confidence, and develop the independence and motivation essential for long-term literacy success.

Light up our Reading!

Educational Pathways Academy

The purpose of this proposal is to enhance the effectiveness and engagement of the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) Orton-Gillingham reading program for students at Educational Pathways Academy. All students have a diagnosis of dyslexia or another co-occurring learning disability, and I continually seek ways to help my students maximize the evidence-based programs we offer. By providing LCD writing tablets for students in grades 1 through 8, I would replace a whiteboard system that can be messy and distracting, which reduces precious learning time. This literacy exercise requires students to write and erase responses at a fast sequence. Students will use LCD tablets during the three-part drill (auditory-kinesthetic) portion of learning letter sounds and address the need for more efficient, engaging, and mess-free learning tools. By streamlining instruction and maintaining students’ focus, the tablets support efforts to limit distractions as I work to close learning gaps in their foundational literacy skills.
This proposal supports specific skills that students are working to master, such as letter-sound correspondence, through systematic, explicit, and research-based instruction. Students will use the LCD writing tablets to practice and reinforce multiple ways to represent sounds (e.g., “k says /k/, c says /k/, ck says /k/”), enhancing both retention and automaticity.

Heat Press to Expand Cricut Opportunities for ESE Students

Palmetto Ridge High

This year, I was awarded a grant for a Cricut machine for my high school ESE classroom. The Cricut will provide my students with hands-on learning experiences in design and creativity. However, to fully utilize this tool, we also need a heat press. Many of the Cricut’s most impactful projects—such as T-shirts, tote bags, and other fabric items—require a press to apply vinyl and complete the product. Without it, students will not be able to fully experience the design-to-product process.

For ESE students, completing a project from start to finish is especially important. It provides a sense of pride, increases engagement, and strengthens vocational and life skills. Without a heat press, their learning experience will be limited.

Headphones and Chargers to Support Accommodations for ESE Students

Palmetto Ridge High

As a new high school ESE teacher, I am working to build the tools and resources my students need to be successful in both daily instruction and assessment. One of the most essential supports for my students is access to headphones for oral presentation accommodations. Many of my students require assignments, assessments, and state tests to be read aloud in order to demonstrate their true knowledge and skills. Without headphones, these accommodations are limited and difficult to provide in a way that protects student privacy and minimizes classroom distractions.

In addition, chargers are a constant need in the classroom. Many ESE students forget or misplace their chargers, or come to class with devices at low battery. When this happens, they lose valuable instructional and assessment time because they are unable to use their required technology for learning or testing. As a new teacher, I do not yet have spare headphones or chargers available to meet these needs.
