FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

Special Olympics Unified Champions Field Days are inclusive events designed to bring students with and without intellectual or developmental disabilities together in shared sports, games, and fun-activities. They promote friendships and understanding between students with and without intellectual disabilities and help create a school climate of acceptance, respect, and dignity for all — not just during sports but across the school community. What will be done with my students

The district Exceptional Education Student Support Services (EESSS) department organizes four field day events each year. One for high school, one for middle school, one for Naples Area elementary schools, and one for Estates/Immokalee elementary schools.
During each event, students rotate between several stations where they engage in activities such as basketball, flag football, soccer, pickleball, obstacle courses, t-ball, parachute games, etc. Each activity has modification options to make them accessible for the physical and developmental abilities of the students who are participating.

Benefits to my students

The materials we plan to purchase will allow us to modify activities so students of varying abilities can all take part meaningfully.

Budget Narrative

Grant funds will be used to purchase sports equipment, storage solutions for organization, transportation, and use during events, and for items that are consumable at each event. All items will contribute to ensuring that every student is able to participate in shared sports, games, and fun activities with their peers.
