Goal

This is a club for students who are drawn to the look, feel, and sound of vinyl records. Vinyl records have a unique sound quality that is warm and rich, while the multisensory experience of handling a physical record and viewing the album’s artwork and liner builds a deeper connection to the music’s creator. These funds will help the club afford a turntable, classic rock LPs, club t-shirts, and an acoustic Fender guitar. ​

The club’s practice of sharing the experience of playing vinyl records during a casual, relaxed lunch period in a calming classroom environment promotes mindful, active listening, along with the deliberate sharing and trading of vinyl records which broadens the students’ experience of musical genres and allows students to discuss various interpretations of the music. ​

Importantly, vinyl can provide a sense of ownership and permanence in a digital world, and the sharing of and caring for vinyl in this club will promote a comfortable respectful collaboration for the love of music.​

What will be done with my students

b) I can already sense the value these students have for connections through music, as we are growing by a few members per week! 

 

Budget Narrative

It is exactly these items that will help my students in this club connect through non-electronic music. Real-life connections in the real world are so authentic, and few students experience such connections through LP music and classic rock. I'm thrilled to get started!
