Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

Every child has something they want to share, whether it's a joke, their feelings, or a new idea. But for some students, clearly expressing their thoughts, feelings, and ideas can be challenging. That’s where this project comes in!

I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist working with students from pre-K through 5th grade, and I’m seeking sets of fun, effective speech sound cue cards to help my students grow their speech sound production skills as well as their confidence. These visual and engaging tools will make practicing sounds feel more like play and less like work, because learning should be fun! Being able to clearly and effectively communicate will positively impact all areas of the curriculum, including reading, math, writing, as well as socialization.

What will be done with my students

In my speech room, every sound counts, whether it's the challenging “r" and “s,” or finally putting a full thought into words. Many of my students have difficulty making speech sounds, and that makes it harder for them to share their ideas, ask for help, or join in conversations with classmates. That’s why I’m requesting sets of speech sound cue cards, tools designed to make learning sounds fun, visual, and easier to comprehend. These specific cue cards were specifically designed with cognitive reframing in mind, to transform how students produce and perceive sounds, prompting more clear and effective communication.

Benefits to my students

With access to these engaging and visual speech sound cue cards, my students will become more confident speakers. Many of them struggle to make specific speech sounds, which can affect their ability to express themselves, participate in class, and build relationships. These tools will support their understanding of how to correctly produce each sound. Through data collection, teacher and parent feedback, and noted changes in student engagement, I will be able to monitor student progress.

Budget Narrative

With this funding, I’ll be able to get cue cards that make speech practice more fun and effective. I’ll use them during small group therapy to help students say their sounds correctly and feel more confident when speaking.
