What will be done with my students

This project involves the creation and integration of a structured obstacle course into our school’s Physical Education (PE) program. The course will include:
-Multi-Domes Set. Extremely versatile domes are designed to be used with all other attachments, giving you many configuration options. Set includes 6 domes.
-Klipz Obstacle Set. Great for jumping, diving, ducking, weaving, and target practice. You can also use the wand posts and domes for agility and speed training, or add them to another obstacle course. Set includes 6 domes, 6 wand posts, 6 clips, and 12 hoops.
-Arch Gates Set. Great to use as targets, goals, tunnels, and more! Place the domes wide apart to lower the tunnel, or move them closer together to create a higher tunnel. Incorporating tunnels into class helps students identify spatial and body awareness. Each 3/4" dia arch gate is 47"L. Set includes 6 arch gates and 12 domes.
-Wand Posts Set. Add agility training to your PE program with 36"L wand posts. Students learn how to weave back and forth while learning body awareness. Set includes 6 wand posts and 6 domes.
-DuraHoopPlus Hoops. A thick, yet flexible 3 mm wall prevents these hoops from kinking. Set includes 12 hoops.
These activities are designed to promote whole-body movement, build fundamental motor skills, and encourage problem-solving.

Students will engage in both individual and group-based obstacle challenges. Activities will be incorporated into regular PE lessons and adapted for varying skill levels to ensure inclusivity. Teachers will also use the course to facilitate lessons on teamwork, perseverance, and fitness goals. Over time, the course can be used to assess physical development, track progress, and support cross-curricular learning (e.g., measuring distance and time, setting goals, or journaling about effort and improvement).

b) How will this project meet the needs of your students, classroom, and/or school:

This obstacle course project meets the physical, emotional, and educational needs of our students by:

Promoting Active Engagement: Many students need more opportunities for physical movement during the school day. The course encourages consistent, enthusiastic participation in PE.

Supporting Diverse Learners: Not all students are drawn to traditional team sports. The obstacle course offers a fun, low-pressure environment for all ability levels to build confidence and physical competence.

Encouraging Social-Emotional Growth: Through cooperative challenges, students will develop communication, teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills.

Addressing Health and Wellness Goals: With rising concerns around student fitness and screen time, this project actively supports physical wellness and positive lifestyle habits.

Enhancing the Learning Environment: The equipment will be a long-term asset for the school, enriching PE classes, recess options, and even after-school programs.

Benefits to my students

a) What will improve/change for your students because of your project?
The addition of an obstacle course will significantly enhance students' physical fitness, coordination, and motor skill development. It will also promote teamwork, perseverance, and problem-solving through structured physical challenges. For many students, the obstacle course will provide a fun, engaging alternative to traditional physical activities, increasing overall participation and enthusiasm in PE. Additionally, it supports social-emotional growth by helping students build confidence, manage frustration, and celebrate personal progress.

b) How will you measure these outcomes?
Outcomes will be measured through a combination of quantitative and qualitative tools, including:

Pre- and post-assessments of physical fitness components (agility, balance, coordination).

Participation tracking to monitor student engagement and attendance in PE.

Student self-assessments and reflection journals to gather insights on confidence, teamwork, and motivation.

Teacher observations and rubrics to assess skill development and social-emotional learning indicators.

Surveys and feedback from students and parents to evaluate enjoyment and perceived benefits of the obstacle course activities.

Budget Narrative

Grant funds will be used to purchase high-quality, durable equipment necessary to design and implement a school-wide obstacle course. These materials align directly with our goal to promote physical literacy, motor skill development, and student engagement in physical education.

The equipment will be integrated into both structured PE lessons and open play opportunities, allowing students to build strength, coordination, and confidence in a fun, challenging environment. All items selected are portable and versatile, ensuring long-term use across multiple grade levels and class settings. By funding these specific resources, the grant directly supports our goal of improving students’ physical and social-emotional well-being through innovative and inclusive movement experiences.
