What will be done with my students

Curriculum Integration:
● Demonstrations: Weekly mini-lessons on fundamental watercolor methods, using new supplies to model best practices.
● Guided Practice: Structured studio sessions where students complete step-by-step exercises (e.g., graded washes, controlled edges).
● Independent Projects: Themed assignments (landscapes, still-life, abstract color studies) allowing students to apply skills creatively.
● Exhibition Preparation: Selection and matting of standout pieces for display on our enclosed outdoor bulletin boards.

Student Involvement:
● Material Care Workshops: Teach proper brush cleaning, paper storage, and rack organization to foster responsibility.
● Peer Teaching: Advanced students mentor peers during technique stations, reinforcing leadership and collaborative learning.

Meeting Student & School Needs:
● Equitable Access: Ensures all students, regardless of background, have consistent access to age-appropriate art materials.
● Classroom Efficiency: The drying rack reduces work-in-progress clutter, maximizes table space, and accelerates turnaround between projects.
● Enhanced Instruction: Reliable materials allow lessons to proceed smoothly without interruptions for makeshift solutions.

Benefits to my students

Student Improvements & Changes:
● Skill Development: 90% of students will demonstrate improved watercolor technique in at least three distinct methods (e.g., smooth washes, controlled edges, color blending) by the end of the year
● Increased Engagement: Students’ on-task studio time will rise by 25%, as measured by teacher observations and time-logs.
● Positive Attitudes: Student self-assessments will show an increase in confidence and enjoyment in art class.

Measurement of Outcomes:
● Rubric Assessments: Pre- and post-unit rubrics evaluating technique, composition, and craftsmanship on student artwork.
● Time-Tracking Logs: Weekly records of active painting time versus idle time, maintained by students and verified by the instructor.
● Surveys & Reflections: Anonymous student surveys and written reflections gauging confidence, enjoyment, and perceived growth.
