Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

I am a new 9th grade high school teacher eager to build a classroom library that sparks a love for reading. Many of my students struggle to connect with books, so my goal is to offer high-interest fiction and non-fiction text that truly engage them. By providing books they can relate to and enjoy, I hope to inspire deeper thinking, encourage meaningful discussions, and help students grow as critical readers.

Goal

I am a new 9th grade high school teacher eager to build a classroom library that sparks a love for reading. Many of my students struggle to connect with books, so my goal is to offer high-interest fiction and non-fiction text that truly engage them. By providing books they can relate to and enjoy, I hope to inspire deeper thinking, encourage meaningful discussions, and help students grow as critical readers.

Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.

What will be done with my students

I hope to provide a diverse selection of both fiction and nonfiction texts that expose students to a range of genres, perspectives, and writing styles. These texts will support literature circles, class discussions, and independent reading, allowing students to critically engage with real-world issues and imaginative narratives. Students will demonstrate their understanding through creative projects such as reader’s theater, story maps, and one-pagers. These culminating activities promote deeper comprehension, critical thinking, and collaboration while aligning with our district curriculum and academic standards.

Benefits to my students

A classroom library will create a space where students can strengthen their reading skills and develop a lifelong love for independent reading. The purpose of this grant is to support high-quality literacy instruction by helping me build a diverse and engaging collection of books. With your support, I will be able to purchase titles that not only spark curiosity but also allow students to connect personally with text and think more deeply about what they read. Thank you for considering a donation to support my English classroom at Barron Collier High School!

Budget Narrative

Grant funds will be used to purchase a diverse collection of high-interest fiction, nonfiction, and poetry texts to build a classroom library
