Goal

The purpose of this project is to provide each of my students with a computer mouse to go with their district provided laptops. Most of the content from all subject areas are accessed online now, and the majority of students feel more comfortable using a mouse to access the content rather than the computer built in mouse pad. This project will allow students to have more ease accessing the content and using content correctly.

What will be done with my students

With this project, each student in my three classes, for a total of at 76 or more students, will be able to use a mouse with their computer. The majority of school work is now to be accessed online, and that includes school work, writing samples, quizzes and assessments. All of these activities work towards learning and/or assessment towards a curricular standard. With the computer mouse pad, there is opportunity for the students to click on the incorrect items, as well as to have an awkwardness some tools such as drawing. Sometimes the built in computer mouse does not work. with With a separate mouse, the students will be able to complete their schoolwork and use the functions of the computer easier than without the mouse. This funded project will be able to be used in future years.  

 

Benefits to my students

Because of this project, students will able to complete their work on the computer with more ease than without this project. Each student is provided with a laptop. In previous years I noticed that students struggled to use the touchpad mouse installed on the laptop itself. They couldn't scroll properly, would sometimes click the incorrect button, and it hindered their ability to highlight and use other functions in different programs. Not having a mouse made students take a longer amount of time to complete work on their computers. If my request is funded and each student receives a separate mouse, it will enable the student to work more efficiently and easily on technology. This in turn will result in better chance of not having accidental answers, as will be proven by the scores of any computerized work and assessments . 

 

Budget Narrative

The request for grant funds for this project is for 30 computer mice that will be able to be used by my three classes of 76 or more students. It also gives a few extra mice in the event some break. This project will be able to be used in future years to come.
