Goal

Reading is a skill that does not come naturally. It must be taught explicitly using tools to help students practice their newly acquired phonics skills. Our goal is that we will be able to purchase the decodable book set that we have been missing from our Sonday System 1 program that we use for interventions and tutoring. 

What will be done with my students

Currently, students using the Sonday System 1 have limited resources when it comes to practicing their phonics skills because we don't have decodable books aligned to each lesson. If we did purchase these decodable books, students would be able to practice reading independently, feeling successful because the books would build on previously learned skills, and strengthen newly acquired skills. 

Benefits to my students

Students in intervention and tutoring are already behind their grade-level peers. The benefits to my students would be ten-fold, starting with their ability to feel successful where they have often felt failure. These decodable books will give them the tools they need to learn to read and comprehend text more easily.

I don't know if we will be charged shipping, so I didn't add this. This is for Levels 6-36 (40 Readers, 90 stories)

The Sonday System 1 readers were created to align with the scope and sequence of Sonday System 1. Illustrated stories cover reading levels 6 through 10 and help students practice comprehension, leading to accurate, fluent decoding. Reading levels 11-36 feature 3 controlled-text, chapter-format stories that build fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Each Reader includes teacher tips and strategies to check for comprehension. Sample pages can be found in the catalog, which is available for download on this site.
