Goal
Our goal is to increase the number of animal non-fiction books available to our lower level readers. Our students love animals and are always asking for books on this topic. We want every student to find books on the many diverse animals of our world they are interested in and on their reading level. We believe this will increase not only their knowledge but their love of reading.
What will be done with my students
These books will be available for checkout in our library. Students will have access to them at anytime. Our teachers can also check out groups of the books for research projects in the classroom.
Benefits to my students
This grant would allow our students to have many more titles to choose from when coming to the library. Our school is a small K-5 rural elementary school. Our library book collection is small (6,800 titles) with an average age of 21 years. Many books need replacing. The books provided with this grant will ensure every student can find a book on a topic they are interested in as well as current topics and information.
Budget Narrative
The books will be ordered from Bellwether.com. Each series has multiple books on the topic. The order will give us over fifty new non-fiction books ranging from 1.4 - 2.6 reading level.
