Goal

The goal of a "squeeze machine" in the school setting is to providing soothing deep pressure, engage the students in heavy work, and help to improve motor planning in students. This machine helps students feel strengthened, empowered and calm.  

What will be done with my students

Squeeze machines are very helpful tools for school therapists. These machines help to provide the student with deep pressure input and work toward improved motor planning, strengthening, and coordination.

School therapists use squeeze machines to help prepare the student's bodies for therapy sessions, provide a calming/comforting sensation to overstimulated or agitated students, and to help the students connect their bodies to the world around them. The squeeze machine is a versatile tool that would be used during both physical therapy and occupational therapy sessions with all of the children receiving therapy at Wildlight Elementary School.  

Benefits to my students

When introduced into therapy sessions, the squeeze machine will improve student focus, strength, motor control and compliance. Students in the therapy and ESE Programs at Wildlight Elementary will improve their attention to tasks during their school day, their ability to sit properly in their chairs without falling out or slumping forward, their handwriting legibility, and their gross motor safety to help them move throughout their campus safely. This machine will help the physical therapists and occupational therapists at Wildlight Elementary School improve the students' ability to be successful in the classroom.  

Budget Narrative

Budget includes the cost of a "Squeezer" machine and shipping from the company Fun and Function.
