Goal

Prepare, Arrive ready, Confident start, Kit for success. Every year, new students from around the world step into American classrooms, eager to learn and grow. However, many face the daunting challenge of navigating a foreign education system without the necessary tools. As the sole ELA ESOL teacher in our school, I witness this struggle weekly with 3-5 new English Language Learners. They walk into uncertainty, lacking school supplies and grappling to keep up. The solution is simple but impactful - the PACK project. With your support, we can ensure that every student, regardless of their background, can "Prepare, Arrive ready, and have a Confident start" with a tailored "Kit for success." What will be done with my students

The PACK project is designed to provide essential support to new international students entering the U.S. education system, specifically those joining my English Language Learning (ELA ESOL) classes. This initiative involves the distribution of curated kits, ensuring that each student can "Prepare, Arrive ready, and have a Confident start" with a dedicated "Kit for success." The kits will include vital school supplies tailored to their academic needs, fostering a sense of belonging and eliminating barriers to learning. This is not a one-time effort; it is an ongoing commitment to support incoming students throughout the academic year. By seamlessly integrating PACK into the learning curriculum, students will experience improved academic achievement through enhanced accessibility to necessary resources. The project aims to create a positive impact on educational enrichment by empowering students with the tools they need for success. Continuous assessment and feedback loops will be established to measure the effectiveness of PACK, ensuring that each student's academic journey is positively influenced by this initiative. 

Benefits to my students

The anticipated outcome of the PACK project is a transformative shift in the academic experience of new international students, aligning with the overarching goal of promoting preparedness, confidence, and success. With the provision of tailored kits, we aim to witness a measurable improvement in students' test results and grades, indicating a positive correlation between access to necessary resources and academic achievement. The grant will empower an estimated 30 new students for the rest of the semester, ensuring that they not only navigate their educational journey confidently but also demonstrate improved performance academically. The reusable nature of the items within the kit further extends the project's impact, benefitting an expanding number of students in the coming years. This initiative aspires to create a lasting change in the lives of these newcomers, setting them on a trajectory towards academic excellence and a successful integration into the U.S. education system.
