Goal

My classroom and newly started garden club is in need of a jump start. We are in need of four raised garden beds, soil, seeds and a few starter plants for the garden. We would like to get five garden beds from Amazon, galvanized steel 8x4x2 ft.

What will be done with my students

Classroom students and garden club members will learn life science concepts, life skills, and work collaboratively in the garden during the school day (during science period) and on Wednesday afternoons after school. We have a dedicated garden space area in the Atrium, which is seen by just about everyone that enters our campus from the south side of our campus. The goal of this project is to allow students to have real hands-on gardening experiences and be able to taste the fruits of their labor.

Benefits to my students

Our students enjoy learning all the different aspects of gardening. They relish in the entire process, from planning the different plots, estimating and recording of plants growth, to the delish harvest.

Describe the Students

My ESE classroom students are from an MMI unit. All have various cognitive and intellectual disabilities. (My Classroom students)
The Garden Club members are from both campus populations, both General Education students as well as ESE students.
