Goal
Ippolito currently has 17 instructional openings and the teacher shortage continues to have a major negative impact on our students. Some students have never had a certified teacher, but this school year we have been very lucky to have an amazing staff of resident educators and long-term subs from Kelly Services who are eager to learn and grow their practice! The goal of this project is to provide ELA teachers with access to a library of professional learning books surrounding the Science of Reading. These educators are eager to better their practices to help support and grow their students, and we want to help by providing them with resources to do just that.
What will be done with my students
This project will benefit our students at Ippolito by equipping their teachers with the knowledge they need to support them in literacy. This professional learning library can be used for years to come as well, not only benefiting the students currently enrolled at Ippolito, but for many years to come.
Our teachers are constantly asking for professional learning opportunities. By providing them with tangible resources about the Science of Reading, we are giving them the tools they need to best support their students and their learning!
Benefits to my students
These books will help teachers build their own knowledge around the Science of Reading. By developing their knowledge and understanding of how students learn, it will equip them with the skills needed to develop strong, cohesive lessons that will greatly impact the learning of students in a positive way.
