Goal

As a school, we are encouraging students to expand their learning to other areas such as arts, dance, exercise, and STEM activities. The club I will be running is "Greeting Cards for Special Occasions." Students will perfect their writing and communication skills while expressing their thoughts as art. 

What will be done with my students

At our school we plan to meet once a month for the remainder of the school year. The club will encourage students to use a variety of materials to make their cards creative and unique. Writing skills will be integrated with creating these cards, which makes powerful learning experiences with writing curriculum and life connections. Students will use various art materials to make cards for any occasion that is special to them. This could be birthdays, thank you cards, cards for friends and family, and holiday cards.  

Benefits to my students

Students will benefit by getting the opportunity to utilize their writing skills in a different setting. The specific students that joined this club are looking forward to being creative with their ideas. Encouraging students outside of critical content such as math, science, and reading gives students meaningful and memorable experiences.
