Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

Many students are not where they should be, both academically and emotionally. We are not facing just an achievement gap—an achievement chasm is opening. We as educators and school leaders want to actively close these gaps now before they widen into chasms by supporting educators to develop teaching strategies and processes that can make a difference to close the learning gaps among students and accelerate learning for all students. School turnaround is designed to address urgent needs and produce immediate, impactful change. School turnaround is double-digit achievement gains in two years or less. We wish to attend a conference where we will be provided with effective, scalable, and evidence-based strategies to provide academic help to an unprecedented number of struggling students in Pre-k -fifth grade. Attendees will be the school principal, Math Coach and Reading Resource. https://blueribbonschools.com/conferences/

What will be done with my students

This project will benefit our students because our administration and content specialists will attend the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Conference held on November 28 through December 1st. They will learn new strategies and techniques to help support our students' academically so we can Turn our school around. We currently rate at a letter grade "D". We want to turn that around to a letter grade of a "B". Three members of our leadership team will bring back information that can improve teachers' practices and instruction. One of the struggles is coaching without losing instructional time or asking teachers to give their time before or after school. Therefore, by learning how we implemented collaborative school-wide coaching with buy-in from our faculty and staff our students will increase academically because coaching can happen in the moment and the necessary instructional decisions can be made on the spot. By providing the tools to implement school-wide coaching without teachers sacrificing their planning periods and time before or after school they will focus more on student learning and needs. By doing so, specific plans for individual students can be created and we will be able to meet the student's needs academically causing them to fill in gaps within learning and excel to their highest potential. These coaching sessions assist faculty, staff, and administration to become better focused on our instruction, assessments, classroom management, better communicators, and becoming more culturally responsive. All of which have a significant impact on making strides in student achievement

Benefits to my students

When the leadership team acquires the skills at the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Conference, they will return and train the staff. We will have mini trainings using the breakout sessions from the conference throughout the year. The trainings will be monitored by sign in sheets and classroom walkthroughs. As well as data analysis to determine the positive effectiveness of the applied strategies. The school will turn around from a letter grade of a "D" to our goal of a letter grade "B".
