Goal
Provide students with various bench seating around campus to promote outdoor learning and enhance the use of our outdoor campus spaces while in turn beautifying our historic neighborhood school.
What will be done with my students
Shadowlawn is a historic neighborhood school and is among some the oldest elementary school's in Collier County. Our campus has many beautiful features (trees, wildlife, etc...) that can be used to enhance our student's education. By providing students with benches around our campus, all students K-5 and their teachers will be able to use our outdoor spaces for valuable learning opportunities and activities.
Benefits to my students
It is shown that today in the 21st century many students learn in different ways. These students can be accommodated by providing them with flexible learning environments. By placing benches around our campus we can begin to use our beautiful campus to bring students outside of the classroom for various learning experiences. All staff and 500+ students at SLE would benefit from the addition of these benches on campus and promote the use of our outdoor spaces as yet another flexible learning environment to meet our students needs. The creation of these outdoor spaces will allow students to create valuable learning experiences beyond the classroom.
