Goal

The goal of this project is to teach our students that they can learn and have fun at the same time. Students will be able to use the technology to help educate themselves to improve the whole person. To teach students internet and technology etiquette/ safety.

What will be done with my students

Physical: Students will use technology to record their skills and self/peer evaluate what they see in order to improve. Students can use technology to document their current fitness levels and their future levels.
Cognitive: Students will use technology to see questions/ videos/ pictures related to Health and Wellness or grade levels questions used in their classrooms to reinforce information learned.
Emotional: Students will use technology to watch/ create videos about how to be "A Highly Effective Person." Which coincides with what we are starting to implement at our school.

These technology items can be used all year and over several years.

Benefits to my students

Students will learn how to appropriately use technology. Physical Education teaches students how to become well rounded individuals. Students can see people their age talking to them, their peers talking to them (for example 3-5 teaching Pre K- 2), instead of adults who are always the ones talking and teaching.

Describe the Students

The students at our school range from ESE to high performers, who typically come from a low socioeconomic neighborhood and experience a large range of trauma.

Budget Narrative

Physical Education has evolved since many of us have gone to school. It is no longer just team sports and dodgeball. In this country we have a problem with obesity. According to the CDC obesity prevalence was 12.7% among 2- to 5-year-olds, 20.7% among 6- to 11-year-olds, and 22.2% among 12- to 19-year-olds. Childhood obesity is also more common among certain populations, which includes the majority of my school population.
We have to meet our students where they are today and if used appropriately technology has a place in our Physical Education classroom.
