Goal

Our goal is to create positive, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences for all students. By incorporating robotics into Math and Science lessons, we are able to deliver instruction in a way that will engage today’s student, while also giving them the opportunity to increase their coding, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.

What will be done with my students

Ozobot is a rechargeable 1-inch robot that instantly engages students as it moves, lights up, and makes sounds. It can be programmed using just colored markers on white paper or using a free-app that allows for more advanced coding. Ozobot’s simple design allows them to be incorporated into both whole-group and small-group math and science lessons where students collaborate to demonstrate their knowledge of measurement, types of motion, addition, subtraction, and more! The magnetic color code tiles will allow even students who struggle with fine-motor skills and marker use to successfully engage in these cross-curricular STEM activities.

Benefits to my students

These materials will be shared with the entire 1st grade team, allowing 103 students to engage in collaborative STEM activities that foster creativity, problem-solving and joy for learning. Ozobots will allow students to engage in higher-order thinking tasks that combine real-world 21st century skills with math and science content in a way that is both meaningful and memorable.
