Goal

Project BCM: Building Confident Mathematicians is aimed to help students develop conceptual understanding of operations and fact fluency.

Project BCM: Building Confident Mathematicians will help students to think strategically through multiple, real-world context.

What will be done with my students

In Project BCM: Building Confident Mathematicians, students will be actively engaged in a comprehensive, research-based tool-kit that is designed to help students learn math facts by developing deep, conceptual understanding while engaging in purposeful practice. Students that are identified as struggling with number concepts will use the fact fluency kits within their small group intervention time. The fact fluency kits are research-based kits that designed to decrease the achievement gap.

Benefits to my students

Students will build their confidence within math by being a member of a community of learners that inspires opportunities for moments of discovery and understanding of the mathematical contexts that are evident in their own lives. Students will become more motivated by their own progress and engaged in the learning together. Students will increase their own mathematical knowledge which will increase their overall academic achievement.
