Goal

The goal of this request is to help my students practice their phonological awareness skills in a fun and exciting way! 

What will be done with my students

During speech and language therapy sessions, students will participate in this fun game that targets phonological awareness skills while at the same time providing an atmosphere to practice developing social skills.  

Benefits to my students

Phonological awareness (the awareness of the sound system of a language) is known to be a prerequisite skill for reading. Like reading, phonological awareness does not come naturally for children and this is especially true for those who struggle with language skills. Teaching phonological awareness skills can support reading skills in emergent and struggling young readers. In this engaging game, students will benefit from over 1,000 possible activities geared toward rhyming, discriminating sounds, segmenting sounds, identification of sounds, manipulation, and deletion of sounds. Social skills like turn-taking and topic maintenance can also be targeted during game play with peers.  

Budget Narrative

The $75 will be spent on Super Duper Publications | Phonological Awareness Fun Park Board Game and Book | Educational Learning Resource for Children and $4.50 will be spent on tax.
