Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

As the new Art teacher at Freedom Elementary, all the students are my students. My goal with this project is to provide them with paint and painting supplies so that they can express themselves through the arts. The supplies I currently have are dwindling and have been used for many years in the art room. I would love the opportunity to provide students with supplies that are as beautiful as the things that they can create with them in my classroom.

Goal

As the new Art teacher at Freedom Elementary, all the students are my students. My goal with this project is to provide them with paint and painting supplies so that they can express themselves through the arts. The supplies I currently have are dwindling and have been used for many years in the art room. I would love the opportunity to provide students with supplies that are as beautiful as the things that they can create with them in my classroom.

What will be done with my students

Having these paints and painting supplies would support virtually all of the Visual Art standards. I would love to do color wheel studies with every grade level so that they can experiment with mixing and blending colors. We will use the paints and painting supplies to make pieces inspired by great classical artists like Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Gustav Klimt. We’ll also study more contemporary artist such as Jen Stark, Wayne Thiebaud, and Reggie Laurent. With these paints and painting supplies we will address standards such as VA.K.C.1.1 - Create and share personal works of art with others, VA.1.F.1.1 - Use various art media and real or imaginary choices to create artwork, and VA.3.S.1.1 - Manipulate tools and media to enhance communication in personal artworks.

Benefits to my students

This project would be an immense benefit to all students at Freedom Elementary. In my short time as the art teacher, I have met with students who have never painted before. These supplies will give them a chance to use this media to create their works.

Budget Narrative

The supplies that I am asking for are tempera cakes with will be put on trays and used for painting. Similar to watercolors the cakes are dry and activated when students rehydrate them with water. I am also asking for paintbrush boxes. These boxes have a deep well for water to clean the brushes, a place to store the brushes when not in use, and a textured bottom to help students clean their paint brushes more efficiently. I am also asking for bowls to organize the paints. These bowls, while traditionally used for chips and dips, are an excellent shape to be used as a tray for tempera cakes.
