Goal
My goal for this grant is to give my students a hands-on experience at the Good Mood Ranch farm. My students will develop a deeper understanding of farm life when they get to experience it firsthand. This field trip will also allow them to understand how the knowledge they learn in the classroom applies to the real world.
What will be done with my students
My students will have the opportunity to:
1. Pet the chicks, lamb, bunnies, baby goats, and alpaca.
2. Feed the pig, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, quails, guinea pigs, donkeys, and cows.
3. Learn how to milk a cow (using a mannequin cow.)
4. Meet and interact with the farmer.
5. Take a train ride around the farm to view all of the animals and the grounds.
6. Explore the growing vegetables and herbs in the greenhouses.
Benefits to my students
My students will gain an educational experience unlike any they have had before. They will engage in learning activities outside of the classroom that will provide them with lasting knowledge about life on the farm. They will gain a deeper understanding of a farmer's job, where our food comes from, and how farm animals are cared for.
Budget Narrative
Cost covers the school bus transportation for the 4 hours needed and the farm's entry fee for the students.
