Goal

The goal of this project is to create opportunities for teachers to observe effective instruction and collaborate with coaches to develop rigorous standard based lessons. We will select effective teachers who plan engaging standard-based lessons and they will be the Thompson template. These identified teachers and coach will plan to unpack BEST standards before or after school. Teachers will come in early or stay late and view the teachers in these learning labs (Thompson Template for Triumph). We are looking to build capacity within our staff around utilizing effective teaching practices within the classroom. Therefore, we will need to provide payment of $27.00 an hour to compensate teachers for their time. Teachers will observe, record strategies at planning sessions and they will implement and debrief after walkthrough that are completed by coach and administration. In addition, we will have teachers collaborate with instructional coaches as they assist teachers with unpacking and understanding the standards to their complexity. The teachers will work on creating engaging and rigorous lessons to implement within their classrooms. This will provide additional paid planning opportunities that will impact student achievement.  

What will be done with my students

This project will help teachers perfect their teaching styles by viewing highly effective models within their school. It also will provide teachers with opportunities to further unpack and understand the standards to their complexity to promote academic achievement. The teachers will increase their knowledge of the standards. The teachers will have the opportunity to view other teachers within a learning environment. This will promote clarity and models of effective teaching environments for teachers. These strategies and examples, can be taken back and applied in their classrooms. 

Benefits to my students

After providing these planning opportunities for our teachers, they will implement the effective teaching strategies within their classroom. In addition, planning standard based lessons with coaches as the teacher differentiates to meet the needs of all their learners, student achievement will increase.  

Budget Narrative

The cost will be used for $27 hourly pay for 74 hours of after school planning sessions through out the year. The planning funds will be utilized by all teachers in K-5.
$27.00 for 74 hours.
