Goal

To improve the overall attendance rate at Brandon High School by rewarding those students who maintain 90% or higher attendance each nine weeks.

What will be done with my students

Students who attend school regularly are more likely to get a high school diploma, more likely to get a higher paying job, and less likely to experience mental health crisis.

If students are not in school, learning is not happening.

Chronic absences result in lower test scores, lower school grades, and reduced funding for schools.

If students are not in school, social emotional skills are compromised and may lead to underlying mental health issues.

Benefits to my students

In the 2022-2023 school year, 999 of our students missed 10 or more days of school. This means 68% of our students are chronically absent.

By having attendance celebrations each nine weeks, I anticipate the overall attendance rate to improve. I would like to see it improve by 10 to 15%.

If students are in school where #everyminutematters, scores will increase as well as school grade.

Budget Narrative

Each 9 weeks we will spend the money based on the total # of students who are eligible for the attendance celebration. 500$ per nine weeks is the goal.
