Goal

To help my Gifted and Talented scholars develop positive connections with their peers that will build on their self-esteem, sense of connectiveness, and sense of acceptance.

What will be done with my students

With this donation, I will be purchasing custom made t-shirts for my Gifted and Talented scholars to wear on their Gifted and Talented days and on any field trips that we may take during the school year. These shirts can be worn from year to year since the same scholars are in Gifted and Talented each year.

Benefits to my students

Clothes affect attitudes and emotions, the power clothes have over us is enormous. When our scholars wake up in the morning and wear something that gives them an identity, they feel a sense of belonging and pride that helps raise them up throughout the day. When we’re looking our best, we feel strong and inspired. We’re more confident and kinder.
Wearing club shirts (gifted and talented) helps scholars build pride on their abilities and who they are.
These shirts are motivational as they unify the scholars and help remind the scholars, they are one big team. Team pride. Scholars truly love to show their school loyalty and ignite some friendly competition with their “gifted” spirit wear.

Describe the Students

My scholars are identified as Gifted or Talented based on their intellectual abilities. They attend a Title 1 school that is also a part of the Transformation Zone. Most of these scholars come from low-income neighborhoods and receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Many of them also participate in the pack a sack program that provides food for them over the weekend and holidays.
These scholars are very motivated and love learning. They take pride in their abilities and have goals for what they want to achieve now and as adults.

Budget Narrative

This donation will go to purchasing custom designed t-shirts that say our school's name and Gifted and Talented program on them.
