Goal

To support Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) initiatives schoolwide. Support student academic and social-emotional success

What will be done with my students

Students will be able to access items in the PBIS school store purchased with this grant funds. It will allow them to learn financial literacy by shopping with points that are spent like cash. Maintaining a spreadsheet for points earned, points spent and balance forward. A student survey is completed to ensure student input and what peaks their interest is considered for them to access in the school store. The PBIS approach drives the daily processes and procedures schoolwide. Student have points sheets that document their daily points and a level system that allows them to move successfully towards reintegration if they choose to.

Benefits to my students

Improves positive behaviors, academics, supports reintegration into a general educational setting.

Describe the Students

Richard L. Sanders is a Pinellas County Schools Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Center. We are a school that serves students K-12 with severe behavioral and emotional disabilities. Our students are undeniably the most challenging student population in this district. Many of our students are economically disadvantaged, demonstrate low academic performance, experience daily behavioral challenges, have mental health issues, and a significant number live in single parent families. One hundred percent of our students receive free lunches.

We are not for profit, and your support of our Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Program would be greatly appreciated. We use tangible and edible incentives throughout the day with our students to help them stay focused on academics and reward positive behavior instead of focusing on negative behavior. Students can earn points to use at our school store to purchase food, games, sensory items and more! Additionally, we are always in need of school uniform items, jacket without hoods, shoes, socks and undergarments for our students in need.
