Goal

The goal is to provide students k-5th grade with a real world hands-on experience. The Cut to the Chase project will allow students to step in to entrepreneurship by designing and creating their own custom projects and sharing the products with members of our school's community. 

What will be done with my students

The Cricut club will consist of students in grades 2nd - 5th, however all students will be impacted as our club members will model how to create designs on our school news and their work will be displayed throughout the school.
Science: We will discuss the science behind heat transfer vinyl as well as numerous other surfaces and adhesives. The students will learn how heat transfer works with different material. Weather less or more heat is required.
Technology- students will be using the Cricut machine and software to create designs on the computer. After the image is created, the students will save and send that image to be cut on the Cricut machine. Students will also learn how to use Canva to create designs to use with the cricut.
Engineering- The Cricut allows students to cut on numerous surfaces and materials so they will have to research the suggested cutting depth for each project they create.
Art- students will create their own design, logo, or wordings on Cricut software or Canva. Students will learn the basics on how to be unique when creating graphics.
Math- The students will be creating business plans when they create their final project. They will have to calculate the cost of materials and time spent creating designs to determine the price of the project. Students will also use measurement skills when creating the design and applying it to the material of their choice.  

Benefits to my students

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) The students in the Cricut Club will learn how Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math all work together to produce amazing designs. Learning how to use the Cricut will give students the confidence and skills needed to produce crafts and focus on entrepreneurship. It is also a way to get students engaged in learning core subjects such as math and science.

Innovation, Technology, and the Future 

Budget Narrative

Club sponsors have been donating t-shirts, cups, and other items to support the club. Students will fundraise to keep vinyl stocked.
