What will be done with my students

Springhead uses PBIS Strategies because PBIS research shows it improves students’ social, emotional and academic success, including students who are underrepresented, underprivileged and students with disabilities. When students are exhibiting positive behavior and academic motivation, less instructional time is lost which leads to academic achievement. Students will be rewarded for positive behavior, which as a result will lessen unwanted and negative behavior schoolwide. Also, when students work hard and achieve academic goals, they will also be given pride bucks and learn that hard work “pays”. Our students will be able to purchase tangible objects within a few weeks of earning their pride bucks, while also learning to save to purchase their entry to our quarterly PBIS events. This will also benefit students’ attendance. After reviewing data and trends from the start of the school year, the school store will be open on days with the lowest attendance to motivate students to come on those days.

Benefits to my students

The expected outcome of this project is to increase academic learning, positive behaviors and attendance while decreasing negative behavior, discipline referrals and office calls for behavior. The best outcome we want to see from this project is high academic achievement and gains due to their increase in modeling positive behavior throughout their school day.
