Project Goals:
Our project, titled "Capital Explorers: Inspiring Tomorrow's Leaders," aims to take 30 middle school students on a transformative educational trip to Washington DC. The goals of this project are to:
• Foster Civic Engagement: By visiting iconic landmarks such as the Smithsonian Museums, the US Supreme Court, and Arlington National Cemetery, students will gain a deeper understanding of the nation's history, democracy, and civic responsibility.
• Cultural Enrichment: Exposure to diverse exhibits, historic sites, and the vibrant culture of the city will broaden students' horizons and instill a sense of appreciation for the richness of American heritage.
• Inspire Lifelong Learning: Through guided night tours of the memorials and interactive activities, students will be inspired to pursue further studies in history, social studies, and related fields.

What will be done with my students

The project holds immense potential to benefit our middle school students in various ways:
• Educational Enrichment: Students will engage with history and civics in a tangible and immersive manner, enhancing their understanding of classroom concepts.
• Character Development: Witnessing the sacrifices at Arlington National Cemetery and experiencing the solemnity of these sites will instill values of respect, empathy, and gratitude.
• Empowerment: A visit to the US Supreme Court will empower students by showcasing the significance of justice, law, and the functioning of our democratic institutions.
• Cultural Exposure: Exploring museums and experiencing the cultural diversity of Washington DC will broaden students' perspectives and foster cultural sensitivity.

We envision several positive outcomes resulting from this project:
• Increased Engagement: Students will become more engaged in their history and social studies classes, leading to improved academic performance.
• Leadership Development: Exposure to historical figures and the stories of leadership at the memorials will inspire students to become responsible and empathetic leaders.
• Long-Term Impact: The experiences gained on this trip will likely have a lasting impact, encouraging students to participate actively in their communities and contribute positively to society.
 

 

Budget Narrative

Our project, titled "Capital Explorers: Inspiring Tomorrow's Leaders," has the objective of facilitating a transformative educational journey to Washington DC for 30 middle school students and 5 chaperones. The comprehensive breakdown of expenses for the trip, covering both students and chaperones, is as follows:
For Students:
• Round-trip transportation via air-conditioned motor coach during the tour
• Hotel accommodations
• Daily breakfast and dinner
• Guidance from a dedicated Tour Director
• Engaging daily activities
• Entrance fees to attractions and guided tours
• Overnight security arrangements
• Illness and accident coverage
• Total cost per student: $2,000 x 30 = $60,000.00
• Additional lunch cost per student: $20 x 30 = $600.00
• Mandatory all-inclusive coverage per student: $119 x 30 = $3,570.00
For Chaperones:
• Round-trip transportation via air-conditioned motor coach during the tour
• Hotel accommodations
• Daily breakfast and dinner
• Guidance from a dedicated Tour Director
• Engaging daily activities
• Entrance fees to attractions and guided tours
• Overnight security arrangements
• Illness and accident coverage
• Total cost per chaperone: $2,185 x 5 = $10,925.00
• Additional lunch cost per chaperone: $5 x 20 = $100.00
• Mandatory all-inclusive coverage per chaperone: $119 x 5 = $595.00
The aggregate cost of the entire trip amounts to: $60,000.00 (students) + $600.00 (student lunches) + $3,570.00 (student coverage) + $10,925.00 (chaperones) + $100.00 (chaperone lunches) + $595.00 (chaperone coverage) = $75,790.00
