Goal

To create optional floor seating in our classrooms where our students can comfortably learn. Research shows the positive effect comfort can have on student learning, achievement, and creativity. Our goal is to provide our students a comfortable seating and work space option that best helps them stay focused and productive while seated on the floor or even outside. Comfortable students are engaged students!!

What will be done with my students

By creating a warm welcoming space that has seating options, our students will feel free to find a comfortable work space that helps them learn. As we collaborate and bring our Kindergarten classes together, these lap desks will enable our young learners to choose seating that allows for comfort as well as different sized groupings. Today's classroom furniture needs to adapt to our students' learning styles. We hope these lap desks will provide our students with lots of comfortable seating for independent study, project-based learning, peer tutoring and cooperative group work.

Benefits to my students

By creating a comfortable classroom with different seating options, our students will be able to find the space that fits their learning. Our classroom will be a safe zone that encourages risk taking and exploration! Our students will be excited to collaborate comfortably and help one another to lead their learning! These durable lap desks will last for years and be used daily for our collaborative writing workshops, completing center activities independently, and even outside learning activities too. The possibilities are endless...just like our learning!
