Goal

To allow underserved students the chance to explore the native and migratory birds of Florida through observation of species in natural habitats

What will be done with my students

We will conduct a unit on birds and ecosystems during the week of Earth Day. We will conduct research on common and uncommon birds species and then we will go out and record observations of them, using basic statistical methods to analyze data.

Benefits to my students

My students will gain valuable experience doing research in real-world settings and record data that relate to the bird they researched and how the species impacts the ecosystem. We will need binoculars to observe the birds.

Describe the Students

AVID students who come from low-income backgrounds

Budget Narrative

I need a set of binoculars so each child can observe birds in a detailed way.
