Goal

Create visual schedules that will be laminated for students with learning and behavioral challenges who struggle when transitioning during daily routines. These schedules are printed for their general education classes, the back of their lanyards and placed on the front of their binders. 

What will be done with my students

Visual schedules reinforce and supplement verbal instructions. Many of our students struggle with the time concepts and sequencing. The visual schedules, created with color laminated cardstock, teach responsibility by helping them master the routines of their day. Doing so allows them to think about and plan out tasks in an appropriate sequence, helping build strong executive functioning skills. 

Benefits to my students

Depending on the student and the severity of their disability, some may need the pictorial schedule just to know what class to attend next. Other students need to see the classroom's daily routine in order to be successful in a general education classroom. 

Budget Narrative

This grant would be used by the three Inclusion teachers. We have one at each grade level. This grant impacts not only the student with learning or behavioral challenges but also the general education teachers. (20+) It helps the high needs student come prepared and have smoother transitions, which will require less intervention from the general education teacher, allowing them to teach rather than spend additional time redirecting.
