Goal
I would like to raise $1,000 to have an accomplished author visit our school. Students love meeting authors, and sharing all the questions they have about their stories, the writing process, and the author's favorite things.
What will be done with my students
I would like to invite an author to school to have several presentations about her stories. She has both picture books and novels that are exciting to our students. Students will get to listen to a 30-minute presentation and ask questions. By having authors visit our school, students learn more about jobs and hobbies outside of their daily lives.
Benefits to my students
Students will prepare for the author visit by reading her books in the classroom, in the media center, and participating in book clubs. This will increase their excitement about reading!
Budget Narrative
Kelly Baptist charges $500 a visit for a school author visit. I would like to have one session for our PreK-2 graders and a second session for our 3rd-5th graders. Our PTA has offered to pay for her travel expenses.
