Goal

Students will have access to weekly STEAM challenges based on high quality literature.

What will be done with my students

Kindergarten Students will be challenged to solve a problem presented in the stories we read each week. Students will read the book once in their own classroom, then, once on Friday morning as a whole group. Students will be presented a challenge. They will get to work on these challenges during outdoor center time. We are also requesting a tent in which the books and others can be placed to encourage independent reading during this time. An easel will also be set up for students to add illustrations to their writing about the challenge.

Benefits to my students

Students will learn to be problem solvers while working to together to design a creative solution to a problem encountered from the story we read. Students will learn how to work cooperatively and use creativity. Students will learn that failure is ok, and mistakes are how we learn. Students will write about their experiences each week after completing the challenge. These challenges will incorporate all subject areas in a meaningful hands-on experience.

Describe the Students
