Goal

My goal is to provide equal opportunity for minority students. Liberty Middle School is considered a Title 1 school with 63% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. This program will provide equity for students who could greatly benefit from additional educational resources in order to bridge the gap between learning.

What will be done with my students

IXL is a powerful supplemental resource that pin points students overall working grade levels and their levels on key strands. IXL provides each student with individualized practice in areas they are struggling. IXL accurately measures students academic level and assists teachers in the process of scaffolding learning for students. Each child can have lessons tailored for their specific needs filling in the gaps where learning could have been missed during instructional time. Students get a real sense of accomplishment when they master new skills and earn rewards. This program will provide equity for my students that need additional resources to help them master specific skills in the areas of math and language arts.

Benefits to my students

I expect all my students to improve a grade level or more with a 95% success rate based on last year's data. This program will allow me to bridge the gap between learning and provide equity for each student by meeting them at their level and providing them with the tools they need specifically. I teach both 7th and 8th graders and IXL is a great resource to help them master specific skills in math and language arts.
