Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

The goal of this project is to support our PBIS school store and events. Davis Elementary is a PBIS school, which means our school focuses on setting expectations, explicitly teaching expectations, and rewarding students who meet expectations with incentives. Incentives include physical items that students can purchase from our school store and monthly events. Research indicates that this focus on positive behaviors significantly improves student's academic and social success. We are requesting financial assistance to purchase the items to be sold at our "Dragon" Store and provide materials for monthly events.

What will be done with my students

Davis Elementary implemented PBIS in 2018 and have seen significant improvements in behavior within the classroom and across campus. Teachers are actively engaged in teaching expectations and rewarding students with 'Dragon Dollars'. The 'Dragon Dollars' are earned when students meet our Davis expectations: Do your best, Act responsibly, Volunteer to help, Inspire others and Show respect. Our school has shifted our mindset to rewarding students who demonstrate positive behaviors. This shift in mindset has allowed for increased learning time, improved school culture, and a significant decrease in time spent managing inappropriate behaviors.

Benefits to my students

With the financial assistance of this grant we expect to continue to increase positive behaviors and academic success. Expected outcomes include a decrease in behavior tracker incidents and office discipline referrals.

Budget Narrative

The administration, faculty and staff, wishes for our students to take pride in their education. Our students are excited to be able to earn 'Dragon Dollars' and to purchase toys, privileges, and events. As a Title 1 school, many of our students don't have the a chance to purchase items or experiences with their family. This funding would allow the students an opportunity to purchase new items and continue to reinforce our students meeting our school expectations.
