What will be done with my students

Davidsen Middle school is a diverse Title 1 school. Our school caters to students from all walks of life. We host students from the heart of Westchase, Access point students, ELL non-english speakers, as well as students from the Children Home Network. With such a diverse student body it is vital to have a media center that can reaches every student needs.

The Grant funds will provide a variety of STEAM related Picture books and literature that will tie into STEAM and makerspace activities. These stories will be utilized as independent, group and whole group read alouds. After the reading, students will be provided with individual STEAM scenarios based on the story. Students will then be given opportunities to work independently and collaboratively to explore and create their own solutions to the problems utilizing the materials provided in this grant. These activities will benefit students in the following areas:

+Stimulate students' curiosity, and creativity.

+Inspire innovative behaviors in middle school students.

+Provide opportunities for all students to explore stem activities.

+Provide students with engaging literature that is linked to STEAM activities.

+ Enhance students’ critical thinking, collaboration, and interpersonal communication skills.

Budget Narrative

STEAM Picture Books:
-50 Picture books, Chapter books, and graphic novels all geared toward and integrating STEAM concepts.

Consumable STEAM Materials:
- Various consumable materials that will be utilized for STEAM activities. (pipe cleaners, paper plates, popsicle sticks, glue, construction paper, ect...)

Makerspace Items:
-These items will allow students to explore the STEAM concepts from the books read. These items will be able to be utilized multiple times by all students. Items such as Green screen, Strawbees, coding robot, Makedo, Squishy circuits, Ect...)
