Goal
To give students with varying exceptionalities access to an environment that has a range of objects and tools needed to support them with their sensory and emotional regulation needs.
What will be done with my students
This project will give students with varying disabilities a designated space that will be utilized to support their sensory needs and support students with emotional regulation. Students will be taught how to use the room and the sensory items appropriately to meet their individual needs.
Benefits to my students
It is my hope that with this sensory room, our students will have a safe environment to come to when needing support. They will learn how to appropriately de-escalate and/or regulate their emotions. I hope that this sensory room will provide our students with them sensory items that can assist them with the necessary sensory input needed to remain active and successful participants throughout their school day.
Budget Narrative
These items are all sensory based items from Amazon. The items listed will be utilized in the sensory room for all students in our Access Points program to use on a daily basis. Items range from fidget toys, flexible seating options, specialty lighting, and visual/sound sensory input.
