Goal

My class is a blended class of typically developing preschoolers and preschoolers with special needs. The Newline Flat Panel will give me the opportunity to encourage learning and elevate the level of engagement throughout the school day.
 

What will be done with my students

Technology is a part of our daily lives; it is fun, engaging, and kids love it... especially when using an interactive whiteboard that all the students have access to. Half of the students in my class have special needs and many of those students are non-verbal. Access to an interactive whiteboard can give them the opportunity to share their voice, answer questions, and actively engage in lessons alongside their peers. Interactive whiteboards provide the teacher with the ability to create multi-sensory and interactive experiences that will draw the kids in with fun learning activities, talking books, games, collaboration, and creative learning. The responsiveness of the Newline is easy for little kids to use and benefit from.
My students with special needs all require the accommodation for the use of visuals (pictures cues) throughout the day. The Newline can help me provide the visuals to support them with daily routines, procedures, classroom rules, and steps involved in learning activities. My students without disabilities are just starting their school experience, and, especially at the beginning of the year, all these daily procedures can be overwhelming and hard to remember. The visuals help all my students feel successful, become independent, and reduce stress.
 

Benefits to my students

The use of the Newline in classroom will boost engagement, create excitement, and help my students meet learning expectations. Interactive, collaborative, and creative lessons will help cultivate a love for learning and enrich the learning experience for my students. Technology will be a part of their education as they move through the grade levels, and this is technology is an amazing way to begin to incorporate it in a meaningful way. It will help give a voice to the students that are non-verbal, excite all the students, and grow learning in significant and fun ways.
