Goal

The purpose of this project is to create a weed free, organic garden at school. Other information will include sharing info on natural pesticides, what grows best, raised garden beds, associated curriculum, outdoor learning center ideas, garden clubs, themed gardens, working with cafeteria staff, parent training's and other fun activities. 

 

What will be done with my students

Students will plant, harvest and maintain a vegetable garden. Students will gain knowledge in math skills, such as measuring, calculating how much to water depending on the weather, etc. They will develop a greater understanding of how seeds grow into plants and what is needed to keep them alive.  

 

Benefits to my students

Students will learn healthier ways of eating, healthy habits, and learn and about math and science. 

 

Budget Narrative

This grant is needed to maintain four edible gardens at Maplewood Elementary.
