Goal

The goal of this project is to get students excited about reading! Each student will create an iMovie to recount the key details of their book and share it with classmates, parents, and other staff at an iMovie Red Carpet Celebration at the end of the year.

What will be done with my students

Students will read books throughout the year and take reading comprehension tests. Rather than writing the "old fashioned book report" on their books, students will use iPads to create iMovies recounting the most important key details of their book. Students will choose their favorite iMovie to take through the "Writing Process" using the iMovie app. Students will revise, edit, and publish their final iMovie product. We will celebrate at the end of the school year with an iMovie Red Carpet Event. Students will walk the red carpet in front of their classmates, parents, and other staff sharing their finished iMovie product. These Stars will shine while sharing their accomplishments!

Benefits to my students

Students will incorporate reading and comprehension skills as well as technology to create a published product that can be shared in a unique way. In addition to creating iMovies, students will get added use of other technology with the iPad throughout the day.

Budget Narrative

The iPad and otterbox will be purchased through Amazon Prime providing free shipping. The Collier County Public Schools requires the Air Watch program to be installed at a cost of $50.
