Goal

To improve vocabulary, and reading interest, and reading comprehension for sixth grade readers

What will be done with my students

Students will be allowed to read and select books appropriate for their lexiles from Kindles connected to our media center.

Benefits to my students

One of the biggest indicators of student achievement is vocabulary. Kindles, however, help students understand and define words because each one comes with a built in dictionary. Students stop reading when they don't understand some of the words they're reading. Kindles ensure the reading process continues since the dictionaries act a bridge for the content. I have learned when given an option, students prefer Kindles for this reason. This helps the teacher deliver instruction in an engaging way.

Describe the Students

Some of my students are close to being on grade level, others are lower meaning they can be three or four years from being on grade level reading.

Budget Narrative

Each Kindle will be used to help students read more in a manner which will increase their knowledge and academic performance.
