Goal

The students will be able to explore constant velocity and constant acceleration motion through hands-on inquiry labs.

What will be done with my students

Using the lab supplies and Vernier motion sensors, students will make motion graphs (position--time, velocity--time, and acceleration--time). From these graphs students will be able to discover what the y-intercept means on each graph, what the slope means on each graph, and what the area under the curve means on each graph. As well as what constant velocity and constant acceleration mean. They will then be able to apply their knowledge to create motion graphs based on given scenarios. This would be a permanently integrated activity and relates to the curriculum through NGSS Science Standards on Motion.

Benefits to my students

Students will be engaged in the learning and be able to discover many of the concepts of kinematics themselves. Students in Physics and Physical Science will benefit from these supplies, which is approximately 150 students.

Budget Narrative

The Constant Velocity Cars and Acceleration Cars come from Arbor Scientific and the price decreases depending on amount ordered. The PAScar comes from PASCO scientific.
