Goal

To provide students with the hands on "Maker" experience, proven so successful - with electronics, engineering, computational thinking, problem solving, applying the scientific method in the real world, creativity, and programming. These kits can be used to both introduce these skills, and give students the opportunity to differentiate their learning and apply creativity and entrepreneurship.  

What will be done with my students

Students in my middle school and high school classes will combine the basics of coding/programming, binary, circuitry, electronics, and engineering to by learning with these open source, programmable motherboards.
The kits include the components for 30 lessons, plus the motherboard and components can be combined to create myriad projects, sensors, programming challenges, etc.

Benefits to my students

Students discover the many ways that their science and math curriculum are relevant and applicable in a hands on, creative setting. They gain the critical thinking and computational thinking skills so important for success in any field. They gain the engineering, circuitry, design, and programming basics that can instill confidence at an early age, and make careers in a variety of cutting edge fields no longer seem distant and unattainable.
The hands on approach and user friendly beginner activities will attract students that might otherwise not be interested or feel capable.  

Budget Narrative

These kits would be distributed between the high school and middle school, and allow for small group instruction and team design challenges.
