Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

Our goal is to raise enough money to replace the existing turf on our current athletic field with a synthetic turf field. We would also like to upgrade our track to a rubberized track and replace the existing buildings (press box, concessions, restrooms and ticket booths) with new and updated buildings. The original buildings were built in the 1950s and are in desperate need of replacement.

What will be done with my students

Students and athletes will have the opportunity to use the field. There will be no limit to the amount of time or use of the field since it will be artificial and will be able to withstand many more hours of use than the existing live turf field. Projected time for installation of the turf field is Summer 2016 with track and building renovations to follow.

Daily use of the field by the following groups:
Athletic sports teams
Band
Dance team/cheerleaders
Physical Education classes
Community Groups
Youth Football
Exhibition Sports Matches
Concerts
Fundraising Events

Benefits to my students

There are a multitude of benefits that come with upgrading our facility. First, this would provide a safer facility for our Physical Education classes and safer playing conditions for all St. Pete High School student-athletes. It will extend the life of our practice field and overall will cost less to repair and maintain. It would provide us with much added flexibility in usage: Band, Sports, Cheerleading, Clubs, Physical Education Classes and Community Events. It will help to increase the overall property value of the school. Overall, it will provide long term cost savings.

Budget Narrative

We are looking to completely renovate our stadium and update it with a synthetic turf field, new rubberized track and new press box, concessions stands/restrooms (both home and visitor sides), new ticket booth(s). We have had multiple quotes from turf companies and are currently working with an architect to begin the planning process for this project. The dollar figures given here are based on the estimates we have received for completion of this project. This is the first capital campaign that St. Pete HS has launched in the past 30 years.
